I've been using Cubase for the past ~15 years and Luna is the only recording system that has pulled me away. I haven't launched Cubase in 3 months and I'm having a lot of fun learning to record and mix in a new way. Thanks UA. Wow, this is a historical vid! Amazing "rough" mix! Though it helps to have an extraordinary engineer of our modern times with an akin- talent of the recent late great Al Schmitt who is the Jedi Master at handling 99% of the mix at the mic set up, instrument choice & placement and room set up before hitting record. At 59:25 is where the magic happens! Genius & Masterful! Having an UAD API Console is the .01% of what could be a great mix. The API sounds amazing! Bravo UAD!

Hey UA I've pretty much been with you live since the very start but sadly I couldn't get to the API launch - boy did that effect me!!! I just watched all and caught up fully and all is so so so impressive! I wanna work for UA :). I always say, if it don't sound like a record and so tight that I don't need to edit any of it, then your not ready to record yet and need to go back and practice 7days a week for a few months before you go into the studio! Luna can be used for live performance? We perform live on Twitch, and we use only UA plugins, but on reaper. Luna can be use for that purpose? It'll be an upgrade? I'm not a mixing or master engineer, it would be JUST for a live performance mix. Can anybody shed a light?

Hi Ben , I got an Apollo twin x and the API console emulation. I don’t unnecessarily put any of the vision strips on there I rather put my trusty console one plugin in a mix and blend fashion.however I’m mixing this album and my uad dsp meter only shows 22% while my render is going up to 60% or so. I’m running Monterey on an i5 iMac 52GB and about 500GB left of my 1T of space. Would you recommend I get a satalite for smooth running?

The UAD plugin version is what you'd want for live situations.

Hi, great sound! so, you use the 4 cues hard pan to obtain 8 mono cue feed out, and then make outside UAD the personal mixes? But: Programming 2, Drums 2, Keys 2, Bass 1, Guitar A 1, Guitar B 1, Sax 1, Vocal 1, Click 1. How can you cue all of this with just 8 out? You send the programming, drums and keys mono? no click? Or may be you can also use monitor out to add 2 more cue feed? How you do it please? Finally, in this particular situation, if you use one x16 instead of one xp8, it would be a better workaround to obtain better stereo cue mixes outside UAD? thanks a lot

It's 4 stereo cues total in the system. You can do any combination of stereo and mono with these 4.

Thanks, I understand that, but please can you answer my questions? If I understand ok, in this case, they do the final cue mixes with the personal studio monitor system, not inside UAD. Thats why I ask, if you use an x16 instead of one of the xp8, you can manage to output more than 8 outs to make the personal mixes with the personal studio monitor system? using the 16 outs of the x16? thanks

Yes, the final mixes are made in the personal mixers, but they all need to be fed by the 8 mono cue outs. Adding an x16 doesn't change that.

whats the DSP like for utilizing the API console with so many tracks? would this be achievable on an apollo duo twin X? or would someone need to upgrade to more DSP?

You can see the UAD DSP chart for the percentages, but as soon as the track is unarmed, the processing automatically switches to the CPU! That's the beauty of LUNA's API Console Emulation!

I lost my faith when he started talking about the guitars going through OX's. That ain't no good and it goes against most engineers principals.Recording guitars through an ox is OK for bedroom amateurs, but for a pro, in a pro studio with mics available? No thanks and it makes me question the rest of JK's assertions. Big shame.

@@UniversalAudio It sounds really great; very easily identifiable and it sounds just like everyone else that records through it it. Therein, Mr UA, is the rub. As you know, the greatest influence on the sound of an electric guitar tone chain is....the cab and then mics and placement (and the room if not entirely close miked). When people record with your OX box, that still remains true. And what you're left with sounds all the same. I'm sure you won't deny this. It's cost and convenience over individual and unique tones and sounds.
