Recording Board Meeting Minutes

Hi…I’ve recently taken on two full-time jobs at the place I work, and I’ve been asked to do minutes for a Governor-appointed committee that is very legal in nature. In fact, a lawyer used to do the minutes and decided it was too much work. Aren’t minutes ideally taken by attorneys? I’m not equipped to deal with the legalese nor the subject matter.

Correct my if I'm wrong, depending on the size of the company the board is for, the minutes can be casual or formal.
