I always recommend learning a FREE DAW like Luna by Universal Audio. Luna installs on your PC or Mac computer like a regular app instead of a web browser based DAW. You can get much better sound quality, tools, features, workflow, and processing speeds using a more sophisticated FREE DAW than BandLab!

I was very skeptical at first but after upgrading to the Gen 2 x8, I have to say that it’s pretty awesome. It is significantly better. I think the marketing department just dropped the ball on this by not conveying the product correctly or in a timely manner.

The Apollo update did take a long time, but It's definitely a noticeable upgrade for me, as a frequent user of the Previous Apollo X interfaces

@@iamkarramusic im still rocking on my apollo twin usb 3.0 from 2010 cause im always king pc with i have no thunderbolt but i use all plug ins you use over past 10 years retired now but once guy at sony start mixing it then i master it still give me industry standard which is end goal. one day apollo will drop more windows versons that can be used ubb 3.0 from real world propective 3.0 usb is better then usb c i dont even have that on my laptop just got it 3 years ago

Sounds good. I have gen 1 x6 and x4 but I started using the MT48 and it’s amazing. I have it going into the x6 with ADAT so I can still use console. It would be nice if the gen 2 sounded as good as the MT48. I would sell my Apollos and get the Gen 2 X6.

I totally understand this setup, because every other interface I use feels somewhat hollow without that convenient UA Console App running a perfect headphone mix in the background. MT48 is kinda close in terms of workflow, but unfortunately that built-in Neumann Compressor, EQ, and Reverb FX you're stuck using in MT48 are very cheap sounding plugins whereas UAD Plugins sound immaculate while you're recording. I know these FX don't get printed into your signal but they definitely affect your performance and recording experience. UAD is the easy choice for anybody with a vocal production heavy workflow

@@iamkarramusic EXACTLY!! Thanks for such a detailed reply. I respect that you took the time. Yes UAD is unmatched in workflow and I am too spoiled to leave it behind. I love my setup although strictly using Apollos is a more solid connection. I just love the sound of the Neumann's conversion. It's really the best of both worlds. I have the Lauten Audio Atlantis, going into the my hardware channel strip, the Neve Newton Channel. Then into the MT48 and ADAT to the X6. In console I can use autotune, CVOX, CL1B etc. in monitor mode to record without worry of latency. Sounds so damn GOOD.

where is the head room for the vocals?, didn't see any trimming down of the beat to create head room, in fact the beat seems to be hitting 0db with some clipping but you still mixed the vocal to it then master it again 🤔

You can see my headroom by looking at the instrumental's clip gain at -2dB, plus the "beat" mixer channel is at -5dB. That's a total of 7dB volume reduction to make space for vocals over the music. For additional gain staging, I also have a buss at the bottom of the template labeled "all vocals" which you can reduce for additional headroom from the acapella

The over thing is, your suppose to-do room acoustics first before you do sound recording as much as you can so. As why many ask ?, because if you do not , Then any recordings are all-ready messed up before you even get started.. It isn't easy as many think that it is to just using a device to do it all for you.
