After listening to a few interviews, it seems like the live sound experience may not be so good. Instead, it's transformed into supernatural in Josh's post production. Is that true? What's it like in the room?

I think there's some truth to this! Having no PA really helps the sound be intimate and immediate -- probably at the expense of the live audience experience.
