@hexadecimalcode5 жыл бұрын
As soon as I have the time! I have 2 sort of mountings for them. The bigger ones are mounted on separate cymbalstands. The main bolt is just welded on to a standard cymbal-stand thingy with cogs. The 12" and 14" are mounted on standard on pearl tom-mounts. It looks like a factory-thing to me. The main bolt goes trough two pieces of plastic with a tension-bolt. I'll show you when I have the time.

I love this video! Great job! I have liked Rototoms since I played them in a concert back in High School. I am trying to find the larger ones to buy now, but people are asking some really high prices! I will either save up enough to pay a high price, or keep an eye out for reasonably priced ones :) I want them all! 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and the 18 monster (really beautiful sound). I also want to make a veri pitch snare with either a 14" or maybe a 12" mounted to a 13" piccolo shell.

Roto-toms are so underrated. I owned some and was not able to get the best out of them. I sold them, blaming the "shell" quality, while they actually came with bad drumheads.
@hexadecimalcode3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the heads are importans! I know Bill Bruford used diplomats or ambassadors. I recorded this with pinstripes, not my favorite. If you use thinner heads they sound less like normal drums and more like a Tympani on drugs, which is cool.

Good day mate and cheers from Greece. I also have a pair of 12 and 14 rotos and I was wodering what kind of stand do you have for those on your kit? I have the standard bar that isn't very ergonomic and I'm looking for ways to get a set up close to yours. I see that you're using the standard long Pearl tom mounts but how do you mount the rotos on them? Thanks for the info and keep up the good work!

That was beyond awesome. I really appreciate your drumming skills. I remember when Roto-toms were very popular back in the 70's and 80's. Van Halen Jump video is a prime example. I have a Roland 25KV electric drum kit and I am looking for a solution to get some decent Roto-tom sounds added to my kit, which seems to be a major and costly upgrade. Most e-drum modules I came across did't have Roto-tom sounds, or they had sounds of smaller diameter roto-toms and the tone was 'plastic'. Maybe I will try to hook up my kit to a drum software. Any suggestions? Again, great video, I truly enjoyed it!

Better recording than most. Most roto recordings sound totally thin and weak. These have some low end.
@hexadecimalcode5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think I did okay. Not entirely happy though. It's difficult to get that really low boom out of the 16 and 18. I suspect that is why the bigger ones are hard to find, the smaller ones work better and are more easy to tune.

Are those Remo rototoms? And how did you manage to attatch them to the stands? They sound great by the way. Bra gjort! :D
@hexadecimalcode6 жыл бұрын
Gonçalo Dias Yes they’re all original Remo. The 12 and 14 have clamps for pearl tom-arms. The rest have separate stands. They have a sort of cog mount with a bolt, like the uppermost part of a cymbalstand.
