While in DAW Controller Mode, press the MENU button to switch between MARKER and TRACK options. MARKER screen allows you to move between markers set in your DAW timeline. TRACK screen allows you to select DAW channels. NOTE: After changing the tracks that can be controlled, the DAW settings and the state and positions of the Model 12 buttons, knobs and faders will not match. In this case, adjust the DAW settings to match the Model 12 settings, or use the Model 12 buttons, knobs and faders to match the DAW settings.

When I use model 12 with pro tools I can't go back to the beginning of the song with one click like it does in SD card mode. Is there a setting to make it work in daw like it does in SD card mode where you push stop twice to return to song beginning? Thanks

Does Pro Tools reset to start position when you double click the stop button? If not, then it won’t with Model 12 either.

@@RecordingStudio9 hum maybe a setting in Pro Tools. But it does go back to start when I click return in Pro Tools. But not when I use model 12. Only rewind.

Hi, thanks for your videos. I am trying to do this now but can't get it to work. The choices on the Tascam are HUI Pro Tools and they also not have MCU-Studio One. I tried both but they are not connecting with Studio ONe.

A DAW controller without motorized fader or endless encoder is useless in an all-in-one mixer-USB audio interface-controller device, especially without a latch mode! You can't have a lots of physica knobs and the convenience of the scene recall and automation at the same time. Also, transport controls and jog whel should be at the bottom for comfortable operation along with a palm rest, like old Digidesign Digi 002, or Behringer x-touch (it's not a mixer though). It's good to see that the music industry is marketing all-in-one mixer-interface-controller combo type devices again after Digi 002 discontinued 20 years ago (I guess they feared that these devices would cannibalize their own line of controller, interface and mixer poducts!) I thank TASCAM and Yamaha (For similar DM3 all-in-one product) for realizing the demand of the modern home studio and small band's needs, but model 12's design could have been much better. It's too big for a desktop environment and that ugly vintage wood panel is totally unnecessary. Anyway, thanks for the very informative video. You highlighted the right topic that came to my mind the first time I heard about this new device.

Hello. So, with your physical connections, are you hooked up usb to audio interface or straight to computer? Would MIDI cables be just as easy?

TASCAM Model 12 is a USB Audio Interface, so Mixer to PC using USB cable. The USB communication also has MIDI data for Control Surface operation, as well as communication to its physical MIDI DIN-5 sockets.

Hi, thanks for this video, very helpful! Is it possible to use the DAW Controller Mode with GarageBand? I know it works with Logic and wonder if it would work with GarageBand since they share a lot of the same underpinnings.

I have no response from TASCAM in this regards, and don't have much hope of it happening anytime soon, as there has been no firmware update for quite some time now.

Excuse me I did everything exactly as you set up Studio One and in fact I can control the DAW from model 12, but I don't hear anything in the headphones either while I'm recording or when I'm listening. I can see the track being recorded but the wave is low. please help me

In DAW mode, audio comes to ch 1 & 2. Make sure the mode switch is on PC. You control the volume from your DAW and main fader. You can’t hear live recording audio in DAW mode.

Hi when I go to set this up, the Model 12 says "only 1/2 channel can be listend" what does that mean? The word is obviously misspelled.

Make sue the M12 is set to Multichannel mode. From the menu, select SYSTEM > USB Audio > Multichannel.

Because at the time of this video, Studio One option was not available. Mackie is the holder of the communication protocol that most Surface Controllers use.

When I am in daw controller mode the buttons and faders work great. I have 3 Machines plugged in. The 3rd one is a Vsynth sampler. When I am in daw controller mode, I cannot hear the 3rd instrument (Vsynth)but, I can hear the rest. Any suggestions?

This has nothing to do with M12, make sure you have the correct audio routings for all VST instruments in your DAW.
