I've had the honor of messing with this beast of a console when I was at Retro Gear Shop in Nashville. Beautiful sounding piece of equipment BUT what an amazing piece of history!!! The amount of legendary albums and artists that were captured through and touched this console.

Yeah sounds super close! I love that plugin so much. It’s already my go-to all-channels channel-strip. The low end is amazing, the mids are amazing, and the top end is amazing. Not to mention the killer compressor that has punch for days!

There’s a width happening to an instrument in the low mids-maybe the keys-in the software version. Is that the dual mono doing its thing? Definitely felt the width. Both sound great. Happy I have the mbsi. So far mhmb are 3 for 3 in my book

It is very close, of course it is not the same mix, the new mix is a bit louder. educated guess about 1 db. so the comparison is difficult in the video. The new mix has a wider stereo field maybe due to a more prominent drum room. but hey, if we would always do the same it gets boring. great job.

Very close freq wise - console sounds a touch groovier, but that could come down to the compression (the SSL comp plug is very good, but maybe not quite up to the hardware depth of feel?) - transients also a touch softer on the console - Plug in sounds great though - very musical like the vibe of the original console - amazing job to match it this close by ear with two totally different technologies, analog and digital !

So the session which was recorded through the console is one thing, what was the other session recorded through, without the console?
@RecordingStudioRockstars2 ай бұрын
@@MKD371 so the recording itself was captured using the console mic pres (along with my other outboard mic preamps in my studio). Then the same Pro Tools session was used to route through the console faders for the original mix, and then recreated internally inside Pro Tools using the plug-in for the new mix. Does that answer your question?

so the sound of the console is going to the plugin? it makes this exercise null invoid, use a splitter to preamp and interface bypassing the preamp, this is more reliable
