Amari-as an adopted kid I wanna thank you for loving your child so much, you wanted better for it. My parents are my soul mates, & I never would have been placed with them had my birth mother not had courage like you did. Placing your child up for adoption when you know you can’t take care of them yourself is the ultimate act of love.

That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. There's so much focus on adopted children these days and all the mental health issues they're struggling with. And this is not the children in bad homes, these are the children who have great families. I was a but surprised by these reports because I naively have though that adopted children did good, going to school getting a job, settling down. I absolutely understand that the children who are adopted think about their biological parents especially the mother. That's natural. But I didn't believe they are thinking so much that it ruin their lives. It made me so happy that wrote about your parents being your soul mates. That's the most beautiful thing you can say about another person. You don't get love on a higher level than soul mate. Unless you're MGK and Megan Fox, haha! I agree with you that a girl or woman that gives a child up for adoption does it purely out of love. Some don't see it that way and calls it egoistical. I can't see why it's egoistical but then again I'm not adopted so I just have to respect their opinions. I hope she reads the comments and sees yours because what you did was to give her an amazing gift. Thank you for being so nice and thoughtful towards others. Have you ever met your bio mom? I bet that it would really help to hear them words come out of your mouth. I truly believe there’s a lot of women that give up their babies for all the right reasons end you regretting it for the rest of their lives. I’m like you I truly feel it’s a true act of love if you know you can’t financially or physically take care of said child.

Dude that shit takes guts. i remember this one True Life episode on MTV where this woman put her baby up for adoption right out of the womb. She could barely bring herself to sign the papers. As a kid no older than 12 I could feel that energy. I couldnt even imagine

I went to highschool with Amari, and I had no idea this is where she is now. You never know what goes on in someone’s life away from school or work. I hope she can stick to her program. so many people in our small town are on drugs now. I’m one year sober, and let me tell you. It feels like there’s no way out in active addiction. But we do recover ❤ one day at a time.

I got pregnant as a teenager, my dad didn’t talk to me at all. My mom screamed at me every day, told me how I embarrassed and shamed the family, then she made me have an abortion. There was no kindness or compassion. After that, my using drugs and alcohol ramped up for sure. They never apologized to me. It ruined my life.

I had a teenage pregnancy too but my cousin was pregnant 5 years before me and she was able to hide it til 6 months wearing big sweaters and she was so little. When her parents found out they made her give him up for adoption . She went off the rails then and she has tried to find him now he is 18. She waited years for the opportunity. He wants nothing to do with her. Her parents know they wrecked her life. When I was pregnant my aunt cried and said she wished she could take back time. Thing is. Life goes so fast and what we worried about never happened. A child needs love more than anything. The fact they have never even acknowledged your hurt is nearly as hurtful as the abortion. They do know what they did but don’t want to acknowledge their part in all the pain.

I think it’s the love for her children that help her pull through every moment. I can’t imagine. Honestly, people sometimes think “I’m sober now” so give me my kids but she really does still need more work. Kids will always be there and she should realize it’s best to her advantage to be nice with her mom and one day make a better life with her kids. Grandma probably wants to rest too.

@@moni1404 it is true . But I also want to be alive so I stopped doing drugs and the bad habits I once had . &’ yes you’re completely right on this . I am playing nice with my mom despite the evil things she’s done to me which isn’t even close to what I shared on my interview . But I’m doing it so I can FaceTime my son everyday . He calls me mommy but she also has him calling her mommy and my step dad daddy . So it’s sickening and it does make me want to go get him back now , but I’m just now getting my own apartment this month . So I have to let him stay there at least for another year or two so I can continue to work on myself and prepare for when I do get him back . It’s the hardest thing in the world to watch someone else have your son call them mommy and daddy when they’re not and missing all of his firsts .. 💗💗😢

????? Proud of her ? Why ? She chose drugs over her kids. She called her ex bf over a bad drug deal where he shot a bloke. She got the only guy trying to help her addicted to heroin. She even described where her bf was begging her to stop using drugs she went off her head at another block which led to her bf getting stabbed in the face. Her life is nothing to be proud of and her children would be right to resent her

As a part-time pastor it makes me feel so sad that your step-dad reacted the way that he did. If my daughter had come to me telling me she is pregnant, I would have told her we will love the baby as a family and supported her. That is what Jesus would want parents to do in such a situation-love not condemn. I am glad you gave your child to a loving family and can keep in touch with her.

yeah unfortunately ive seen stuff like this before, where parents and grandparents put their high standing position and reputation with the Church over their children and grandchildren, its sad to see. but the church is supposed to be about unconditional love and they seem to forget about that. but then again she didn't seem like an easy kid to raise, she was going to do what she wanted to do.

I stayed out of trouble . I did journalism , photography , ceramics and the school’s newspaper . I was a great kid but when I got pregnant is when everything changed in my house

Amari girl I’m telling you it’s shit right now but it definitely gets better. I was in the same boat and it took me 2years to get my kid back. Luckily they didn’t have anything else to hold against me, I was in sober living, had a job and was super compliant. 4 years later, I’m in my own apartment and I take care of my child full time. The system is crooked, don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. You got this. So proud. Keep going girl ❤️

@@FROOB202 I get what they are trying to do but my family literally had to send cps a letter and vouch for me with references after I had been clean and making progress for 2 years. They wanted me to have joint custody with a family member after I showed them I was perfectly capable of taking care of my child on my own. Mind you I called cps on myself to get help. I had been clean and held a job for a while. And I wasn’t granted any of the steps you should take get to reunification. No overnights or anything. So yes, the system is there for a reason but it’s frustrating when I see families who aren’t even trying that hard get their kids back and then others bust their ass to make a change and they still withhold the child 🙃

I don't know much about the world of recovery, but something tells me that Amari will be one of the few who make it. She looks good, she is well-spoken, and you can hear it in her words that she's serious about this new chapter in her still-young life. Opiate withdrawl is one of the most excruciating things to deal with (mentally and physically) as a human being, I always thought of it as like being trapped in a never-ending nightmare and the only relief is more drugs. No eating or sleeping will be had when in detox/withdrawal. It's pure HELL! I wouldn't wish opiate withdrawal on my worst enemy.

Her father, the “upstanding church deacon” hardly sounds like a Christian. Grabbing his daughter by the neck, throwing her against the wall, and telling her she’s not going to have her baby, are the acts of a highly insecure, sadistic, and power hungry person IMO. Amari, you're such an amazing inspiration ❤️ That tiny little girl has incredible strength! You've been through so much the last eight or so years it's almost impossible to wrap my head around it. So few make it out therefore it's so great to get to hear a story like yours which is a success story. You really took responsibility! And I bet you've been working your ass off this last year! The mental health and therapy is key. Without that you will fail no matter how strong you are. You will reach your goals. No doubt in my mind. I know it's easy to say this, but give it time. Do it right. Finnish sober living. You'll get a job. You'll get your own place. Then the court can't say no. And maybe it's necessary for it to take time so you need to keep working on yourself. And staying clean even though you're meeting hurdles that makes you want to use until you od. This is a test. And when you pass it, your son will be with you for the rest of your lives. People often talk about the way your life falls apart when you're in an active addiction, losing friends, family, your dignity, your home.... People don't often talk about the longterm after effects...once short-term detox blows over you're left with the long-term health impacts the drugs have on your system and spirit...the years it takes to fully detox all the heavy metals from the drugs (which lead to very serious diseases if untreated) and the stabilizing of your brain/hormonal chemistry. The years after recovery are riddled with anxiety, all the purging of what was being suppressed in the first place coming up to the surface, the rebuilding/relearning of one's dignity, self-respect, self-empowerment when you've been told from the world that you're useless.....the releasing of the guilt and shame and self-hatred, and then forgiving yourself and all those who traumatized you.....I think recovered addicts are some of God's strongest warriors.

I don’t understand how parents forget how it was like to be a young adult. We’re all human, we were meant to not be perfect. If her dad supported her when she was pregnant, she wouldn’t have been homeless and been doing drugs. Drugs happened bcz she was depressed. It’s so frustrating that someone this smart and sweet natured is in a situation like this. Thanks for the fantastic advice. As a parent who has been through this; we chose to save our other son as he was suffering mentally seeing his older brother as high as a kite. We were lost as a family. Honestly, watching our children abuse drugs has been one of the toughest things I’ve been through. I pray that you will continue with your healing journey as you have so much to live for. Hopefully within time you will be able to have supervised visits with your two children. 🥰🙏🏻

Its ironic the parents kicked her out at the first pregnancy and now they have taken her child from her. Maybe if they would have helped in the beginning then they could saved her life. I wish her the best and hope she continues on the path on staying sober. God Bless her.

Amari im so proud of you for getting off dope, i just got sober from fentanyl, crack and meth last year and trust me i know how hard it is. And i alsl know what its like to have your parents/loved ones let you down, but you know what? We are survivors and after being through the hell that being a homeless, desperate addict who is living a life of crime only to just barely keep our head above water, that all has given us a strength and resilience that nobody can ever take from us. You are still so young, obviously you are highly intelligent and on top of that, girl YOU ARE GORGEOUS 😍!!! I know that you are not only going to survive, but thrive in this life now that you are off dope, so stay strong, keep your head up and never let anyone get you down because you have so much going for you and you are destined to do great things. I think you should follow your dream of being a writter! Just from this brief interview i can tell you are an amazing story teller and you have already lived such an interesting life and our society needs to hear true stories like yours, in depth, that show a strong young woman like yourself who have been to hell and back and have overcome adversity!!! Me and my wife lost our kids to her mother and thought we would never get them back. We got clean and got our kids back even when there was no hope. And we have been blessed with a baby daughter 2 years ago and she is such a huge blessing. God loves you and wants to restore whats broken. Your a beautiful soul ❤

Thank you . I gave my first born up for adoption but my second born is with my mother . Me and my boyfriend are getting our first apartment together this month and it’s a huge accomplishment and first step towards getting my son back . Im so happy for y’all !!!! It’s hard knowing your child isn’t with you anymore , you know ? But once you’re reunited , i know it’s gotta be the best feeling in the world . Y’all got this ! Keep going and never give up ! Her mother failed her when she most needed her. :( If parents will listen more to what we go through as kids, life will be easier.I am happy to know she was able to get the help she needed and most importantly learn how to take accountability for her actions. Baby girl, keep healing. I can tell she is a good mother and will do anything for her babies. I hope she finds the way to get her baby back and stay away from her toxic parents. They caused her a lot of sadness as parents

@@ItzSmalllZ She did communicate it to her mother. Doesn’t take that long for a mother to realize her baby is going through something. Her mother was trying to teach her a lesson by abandoning her which most parents used to do back in the day. In my opinion this is the worst lesson. Addictions are not something most people cannot understand. That was the time for her mother to be on her side helping her. That’s just my opinion
