JD now tell the people who you really are a phoney that created a image for KZbin you didn't have all those tattoos in prison tell the people how you added them after. Also tell them how you magically didn't go to prison on a drug charge a few years ago as a "career criminal" or tell them how your friends with a child abuser and women beater yet you say you against all that go ahead JD tell the people some truth

I agree totally I really like the guy and what he does, the positive changes he's made and helped others make, but I'd love to hear him just talk chill like this regularly, I get that he's passionate about his stuff and gets amped up, but I can relate much more to this tone and demeanor. not knocking him at all, glad he's successful and doing well in life now. I'm a recovering addict myself, did lots of dirt and did time but got sober over 15 years ago and just live a simple quiet life now, work hard and am focused on my family taking care of them and doing right.🙏🏼

I saw the thumbnail for this video, and realized that it was one of my favorite KZbinrs. I love this channel. It leaves me in tears more often than not, but that's a good thing. I think we need a reminder once in a while, that we're all part of the human race, and we're given empathy for a reason. I especially loved this episode, because I love the work that JD does, spreading love and positivity, even while tackling some pretty horrendous issues. Recovery is a gift for sure!

I can't count the number of times I begged for death or help. And I didn't know if "help" world really help. I thought even after I got sober, the issues that caused me to slip, world suck me back in, but this time sober, with no relief. So I thought sobriety would still be hell, I didn't see a world where I would ever be ok. And today I'm sober, but even after years of sobriety, I feel like a shell or a shadow of my original self, like that person's gone, and I'm just living at half life. I praise anyone who walks thru the struggles I went thru, and made it out. So many didn't make it out. I've lost so many good friends, good ppl, who were just struggling and couldn't see another way of life.

I spent from 14-41 in active addiction. If I live until 12/23/23 I'll have been clean 10yrs. Point being... you HAVE to keep your sobriety your #1 priority every single day. The first day it's not your #1 priority is the first day of your road to relapse. JD is the real deal. I've been watching him for a long time. Living on the tip top of Appalachian Mountains it can be 25-30 miles to the nearest NA meeting if you can find one. Watching people like JD on KZbin really helps me keep myself positive. JD... if you happen to see this "THANKS" for everything you do. "THANKS" for not being full of sh_t and always keeping it real!!

I hope your life journey continues on a sober path. Addiction is nasty. People who never dealt with it do not understand that substances literally rewire your brain for life, regardless of how long you've been sober. It's always that thing on your shoulder or the back of your mind. Every day.

I have been following JD for quite a while now and I had no idea this interview existed until I read about it in the comments of a different video. Thank you for being open and transparent. So many people look up to you and this will help a lot of people come to terms with their own trauma. Thank you for being vulnerable about your pain. I am also 44 and I have lived a lifetime of pain and trauma trying to outrun my abuse and all the terrible feelings that came with it. I take in foster kids now and try to make a difference to them while they are still young so that they don't turn to crimes and being social outcast because they don't understand their pain and end up wrapped up in the adult justice system. We all make a difference where we can sometimes and I have made love and respect for you for speaking for those that don't have a voice. God bless you and Jax. I see all the work you guys put in our of the kindness of your hearts. You are helping kids and adults that have been carrying pain in al the wrong ways. Keep speaking your truth. Much love 💙

Well, I would always share that alcohol told me it was ok to put a pill in my belly, a straw up my nose and a needle in my vein. That would wake the up to pay attention. Good luck, you can do this! Its crazy because it's all you know...we become so used to the chaos that the idea of a regular life seems boring or so distant it's unreachable so we convince ourselves we don't want it. Getting clean is a huge lifestyle change but it's so fucking worth it! It means a change from being sick, depressed, broke, exhausted and trying to feed an insatiable craving that no amount of drugs or money can ever satisfy. It means you can live with clarity, understanding and purpose. The whole world opens up to you when you don't have to worry about getting or using drugs everywhere you go. You can travel, work, visit family, pretty much anything you want because youre not chained at the ankle to a debilitating drug. I pray you make it into a great rehab and have the life you truly deserve. Bless you ❤

@@TenaciousMegan your words are very kind and supportive. I’m not a raging anything. It’s just that I know the feeling and I have the tools in my bag to use for certain projects. I just have never been this distressed and down and out. I know the feeling and I’ve been sober for years and I mean not even smoke cigarettes. I’ve been in trouble from fifteen with a DUI but I was with adults that made me drive and I didn’t know how. And I got my second dui about 8 years ago. I’ve been busted growing weed but nothing crazy. I got felonies for having them in pots. If I had them in the ground it would have been a misdemeanor. But I learned that it was wrong because it wasn’t anything commercial or large but even though it was for personal consumption I realized that I put my family’s and my life in jeopardy. That’s wrong and it didn’t take me that long in legal system to realize that fact. I just have acquired to many crutches to walk through this life! And you can’t run with crutches! Not from anything or to something but not at a 100% when you are dependent on things that aren’t necessary for sustaining life of success

Don’t give up. My family was also broken, over my and my brother’s drug use, and our selfish & self-destructive behavior, and the mental health problems that came about as a result of it. We still have a lot to make up for, but we’re trying, and our family got through it together. My brother spent a month or two in a mental health facility, and it was the worst few months of our lives. And it took months of watching him day and night before that just to get him to go. He was not the person we knew and loved for a while. But we got him help, and we got him through it, and he’s doing so much better now. I know how hard it is to get someone to seek help. Nobody wants to admit they have a problem, and nobody wants to be forced into getting treatment. Sometimes they cant see the problem, and blame everyone else for it. I know how much it hurts when someone you love doesn’t trust you, and thinks you’re out to get them, when you only want to help them. It’s not easy. Just know you aren’t alone, do your best to get him the help he needs, and don’t give up. Trust that the Lord will see you through. Don’t lose your faith in Him. “This too shall pass.” Your family is in our prayers. God Bless.

Excellent interview. Mr. Laita asks questions and gets out of the way so Mr. Delay can answer - oftentimes at great length with a lot of detail. This is very informative and educational. The type of interview that should be shown at middle and high schools. (Yes he swears, just bleep it out) but kids and adults need to hear him. I love your honesty; you know how close run it is - how easy to succumb to use again. I hope with all my heart, you are able to maintain being clean and helping others. Your struggles have been worthwhile to those you help. Thank you both for this interview.

Hey, JD! I'm really happy for you that you found your niche. Good for you for being smart enough to fight the drugs. I'm 70 and gave up sex, drugs and rock and roll at age 28 because I was afraid of losing my two girls. Incentive. It was either change or drown myself in the river. Glad I stuck around. So about age 60 I started smoking pot for pain. I haven't touched any hard drugs because I am scared shitless of them. That fear is good. You are a living example of a little saying I learned at a recovery program... Make your mess your message. You're doing a good thing for your clients and yourself. I hope you come back again.

I was abused from age 7 until 10. And never told anyone until I was in my 20s. Same thing ... I acted out and was labeled as the bad influence and my parents put me on medication to calm me down. I didn't know what was wrong with me and started smoking and drinking at 13. My first son was born when I was 15 and the second at 16. Both of whom my parents had adopted out. When I finally went to counseling I remember the therapist asking why I didn't see any red flags when I was being abused. I was so angry! I explained that this was my experience, and I knew nothing else. Nobody warned me as a 7 year old of the dangers of pedophiles, plus all 3 times it was someone I trusted so by the 3rd time I thought it was just par for the course and it happened to all young boys. I am sorry this happened to you as well! Abuse in any form is not something a young child should ever endure! Always talk to your kids ... even if it is embarrassing, it could save them from a long road of confusion and drug and alcohol abuse ✌❤

You are very correct in all that you said. But you don't need rehab or AA/NA and forcing people to do it never works. I was a hardcore Oxy contin addict from 2002-2009. I avoided trouble until i got a DUI in 2009. I woke up the next morning, walked over to piss and looked at myself in the mirror and Said I'm done with this life. I bought enough Suboxone for two weeks and from January 26th to today I've been clean. I think it all comes down to making that decision you've had enough and very few are able to do it. Unfortunately my 37 year old sister, I'm 40, has racked up 31 felonies in 15 years. She got paroled in January this year and went back to jail 3 times and they finally revoked her a couple weeks ago and has 8 years left. She doesn't want to quit, Even after she coded on an overdose in April, and checked herself out and went right back to using until probation and parole got her. It's tragic, i feel for anyone trapped in addiction. But good post by you.

@@shannacollins4741 I don't know how your state insurance works, but if your son can get on that, try to see if he can get into some sort of medically assisted treatment. Suboxone, or methadone. If he can't, I've heard good things about kratom. It's a plant that's related to the coffee plant. It's a non classical opioid. It can form It's own addiction, but it's supposed to be alot easier to get off of. That, or there is a plant called iboga. The medicine made from it is ibogain. Idk if you can get ahold of it in the states, but it's supposed to be a miracle med. But state detox centers usually have a way of helping, payment plans, or charity forgiveness.
