I think that there is also a "drone" note that is sustained throughout the synth solo. I think it starts on E and then goes up to B. It sounds like a simpler patch. In addition, the bass patch is triggered a few times during the solo too (perhaps you need 3 hands to cover everything). You can hear it in this stem: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpfUcoR3l96Ug8kfeature=shared&t=91

Yes, after I recorded this video I made a whole sound pack for Rush that includes this sound. Check it out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHypgINsic2bfK8si=TNlFQe_9pX52lhZD

Get a Minimoog with the version 2 oscillator board. Sync the oscillators, and put a little glide on it. Do not detune the oscillators. Do you not hear the phasing?

Bom dia Allan. que timbre perfeito... eu tenho um XPS30, não consigo repruduzir este timbre. sabe se eu consigo com este sintetizador?
@AllanLoboVST
@AllanLoboVST Жыл бұрын
Bom dia, consegue sim!

Allan, great video. Great demonstration. I used to see some of your vídeos to get ideas to reproduce some patches on my Workstation. But let me say something, only a suggestion: whenever I listen to this song, I hear the typical harmonics of sawtooth, but also another sound, how can I say, metallic, robotic, indicating the use of a square wave. My Workstation (Casio XW-P1 ) has various square waves, pwm waves (which you can configure the width) , wide pulses, narrow pulses... All of them added a little bit of that sound, but seemed better for me was a narrow pulse. And I have Miniverse from Cherry Audio, that emulates Minimoog Model D and for that reason I know that Minimoog Model D has wide and narrow pulse. What do you think of trying a sawtooth plus a narrow pulse (or you can try other pulse waves)? Another thing I have to say is that I leave filter and amp envelopes with standard configuration, filter a litte bit closed (only to not sound so much strident) and used a small portamento (glide) instead of a slower attack. But hearing your sound, it seems to me that both solutions sounds similar (small portamento or small attack time)
@AllanLoboVST
@AllanLoboVST Жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you made this patch and feel like adding a narrow pulse makes it sound better, why not? Maybe they did use a narrow pulse along with the saw, maybe it's just less detune making it sound more cutting / metallic as you described, maybe the producer added a subtle drive or distortion on top of the recording, who knows? I didn't understand the last part of your comment... You said you used glide "instead" of a slower attack, but in this video I used both glide and a little bit of amp atk. They are meant for two different things, the glide is self explanatory, and the small attack I explain why in 4:20 Anyway, trust your instincts, my videos don't present "rules" for patching sounds, they are mere guides

I think they used Oberheim OB X8 on this song not Minimoog

@AllanLoboVST 5 ай бұрын
Geddy did use the Oberheim a lot but mostly for polyphonic sounds. This lead is definitely Moog. Check out the video of my full Rush sound pack!

Thank you, but no one has mentioned you are not playing the correct solo notes. The second time it is played the bottom note is a B, not a D. So first run end D, second run end on B alternating until the end. The end notes are A,F#,G#,E,D,A which mirrors the guitar notes.
