In this video tutorial we provide an overview of the anatomy of the rectus femoris muscle as it relates to the development, identification and treatment of trigger points.
The rectus femoris muscle is a key component of the quadricep muscle group and is extremely involved something most of us do everyday - walking!
Trigger points in the rectus femoris typically form at each end of the long muscle with symptoms that include both local and referred pain.

3:31 -- 100% agree. I thought I had knee pain but the actual injury spot was way up the front of my quad near my hip.

Thank you for putting this information out there. I don’t understand why every pain doctor and physical therapist out there isn’t taught about triggerpoints. So many people including myself are misdiagnosed and have multiple wrong treatments and unnecessary surgeries all because the doctor treats the very area the pain is radiating from rather than looking into the trigger point.

Nice information doc. It's funny, I have felt some pain around the first trigger point mentioned, but I'm not really feeling any knee pains around my patella. The pain I'm feeling is around the middle-upper part of my right thigh, and I believe it's because it's an overactive muscle because my hamstrings and glutes are dysfunctional tight and weak.
