Hi thanks. I'm not sure what you are asking so I am going to guess that the answer is no. 🙂

@@UpcycleDesignLab I was referring to the ship model up on the shelf. It looks like the HMAV Bounty.

Hello Cindy. Can you tell me the specification of the microwave you are using?
@UpcycleDesignLab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kiki we have a 1000 watt microwave but I believe any microwave will work they just take different times to heat up and fuse the glass. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.

Cindy, is the glass you’re using from a bottle or a drinking glass? I’m a potter and have also done work with fusing and slumping glass in addition to making glass beads with a torch. In my opinion, you should always be wearing protective eye wear when cutting glass. Additionally, glass melts in the 2600-2800 degree Fahrenheit range (1400-1600 degree Celsius) which Han cause ocular damage. Continual exposure by looking at white hot glass with the naked eye is a really bad idea. Please include proper protection. A few glass rings are not worth permanent eye damage. Please see Practical Eye Protection for Glassworkers Safety information.

Hi Cindy, The glass is from an empty bottle. Thanks for the information.

She look at the molten glass all of about 2 or 3 seconds ….nothing will happen I’ve been fusing for 35 years and open my kiln often ….the only time I wear glasses if I’m Lampworking or taking glass from the furnace…stop already

can u also use grease proof paper instead of kiln paper

Hi Sarah, Thanks for your question. Sorry I don't know the answer. I have never heard of grease proof paper. Thanks for watching.

@@UpcycleDesignLab umm i think its also called parchment paper or baking paper
@UpcycleDesignLab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, I don't think that parchment paper would be suitable for this use as the klin temperatures far exceed oven temperatures. The kiln paper is intended to protect the kiln surface and I don't think parchment paper would do that. Also I would be concerned it would be a fire hazard.

I’ve been cutting glass without gloves for 35 years as well as doing glass mosaics …..and ever so often I get a nick not like I’m going to sever my arm! She’s fine

Please please use eye protection... also please never sand glass or ceramics unless working under water or in a well-ventilated area with proper face and mouth protection!! Inhalation of the dust particles can be seriously damaging and even deadly😭
