I’m 43, just came back from a girls trip in the heart of winter. Thankfully never been desperate, but I had a father whose last words to me were: “You are more than enough… married or unmarried. You got everything you need to make it in this world, and you are beautiful!” I didn’t know it would be his last words to me, but I have eternal affirmation from my Heavenly Father, and external confirmation from my daddy. It really does. Currently over a year for me and now I'm able to more easily discern when a man is a manipulator, selfish (a taker not a giver), a narc...or any other red flags. Ask the right questions. Have thought provoking convos early on that reveal his values (past relationships, health, spirituality, political views, life goals, family, eventually finances). I check for accountability, self awareness, and growth. Observe his communication style, especially how he handles himself during disagreements. Watch to see if his actions match/reflect his claimed values. Are your love languages compatible? Is he able to meet those needs without you nagging? You can literally learn so much about a person in the first 3 months and fall deep in love, when there's no sex blinding you. It's amazing. Observe and be more logical in deciding if this is the right person for you vs letting your heart/feelings take over. And always check in with God.🙏❤️

Thank you for bringing up longevity! Story time… I purchased my 1st vehicle in 2010 the year is now 2022 & I still own & have my car. The guys my age (late 20’s early 30’s) keep telling me to get a new car… I don’t need to so I haven’t! I even cut guys off for not understanding after I further explain why I still have a vehicle. I keep my car up, I keep it clean, maintenance up to date, it’s been paid off for 6 years & I will purchase a car in the future, but right now at this moment a new car would put me back in debt, that’s a 5-7 year commitment with high APR. I’m saving/investing my money, working, prioritizing, building & allowing God to lead me with big financial purchases. I believe the car may symbolize who I am a lil… I’m consistent, I don’t just get something new because it’s no longer shiny or in style, I can take care of things, I prioritize, I manage my money well… the men I date don’t see that they just think I’m too fine to drive a 12 year old car. I’m no longer dating at the moment, but I still attract a lot of men who seem materialistic.
@rickboss4242 Жыл бұрын
That’s partially because men are often looking for women they can “upgrade” or impress. Your car and other areas in your life that aren’t materialistic is a breeding ground for men who think they can “buy” women or impress them. They don’t understand your mindset on the matter

It's a turn off for me as well. I am quite frugal. I'm not one to spend just because I have it either. Until last year, I drove a hand-me down 98 Honda Accord. Road it til the wheels fell off lol. I hand washed it myself and made sure the interior was clean and vacuumed. Any man that tries to impress me with what he has (especially if it's something that depreciates like car, clothes, shoes, watches, etc 😅) is not for me tbh. A house is impressive. Savings are impressive. Investments are impressive. How he expresses his love for his family and close friends is impressive. His ability and willingness to express his emotions is impressive. But his love for God and dedication to the Word is the most impressive, and quite frankly, sexy thing ever. To those guys, I simply express that I don't think we are compatible, wish them good luck, and move on. I've stopped letting my feelings get so involved early on. Can't help what you attract, but you can control how fast you cut it off when you see those red flags. Good luck sis!

Wanting love and marriage does not make you desperate at no age. Wanting love is apart of God's plan and the Maslow's hierarchy of needs states every human being has that need for love and relationships. It's too many ppl trying to capitalize off that need today. Never feel bad ladies for wanting love, marriage, children, its ok

@kenyacarl3626 Жыл бұрын
@@johnniejohnson6420 I understand the pinpoint of the book. I really think that the points he talked about towards the latter half of the podcast were excellent. I take a bit of an issue with the generalization that women think feel and act in any one particular way - desperate for a man, not being satisfied with God, putting need for family before God. All women are not doing that. (Maybe the pastor is only encountering what he has described) The podcast did not mention some of the other valid reasons that great and Godly women are still waiting and longing for a partner and family. There is a shortage of eligible men due to societal issues and it would be great to converse about how to remedy that/ maybe women can travel more to expand their circle and meet more people, maybe there some networking or out of the box things that these Godly women can engage in. I though the podcast was very good but only focused on the desperate or broken women. To use language that suggest that all unmarried women in 30s and up are in this state perpetuates a stereotype that is untrue and offensive for those that are not and they are really just waiting and trusting God but likely need some effective tools to meeting more prospects.
@chiokecoreathers Жыл бұрын
@Kenya Carl: YES!! You absolutely nailed it. What do you say to the woman that is satisfied in Jesus and yet is still waiting, still abstaining, still staying whole and holy but has not yet gotten her husband she desires? Since my divorce back in 2017, I find men think I'm the complete package; however I experience insecurities from men, lack of drive which turns me off once exposed and other little nuances I later discover. Plus most men have kids by now, I just don't want to be someone's second! That was more to your question....I know.

I think it's good for a man to be attracted to you, but the right person wouldn't lead with that. I take that as disrespectful actually. And he should love God more than he loves your body. Is he a disciplined enough to control himself? That is key. What else does he love about you? I know if I'm attracted immediately. But for me, exploring the spiritual connection and emotional connection is priority. I want my partner to feel like my best friend. I should feel most safe with him after God. That talking for hours thing about any- & everything, whether in person or over the phone says alot. Then of course explore all the other areas of compatibility as well. Cut off the wrong ones faster, no minimizing red flags, and stay faithful 🙌🙏.

Look I'm getting the book lol. I love how you two just flowed in organic conversation. I like when you have guests that come on that didn't predetermine and plan out everything they were gonna say to try & impress the audience. I have so many great take aways from this episode, that I will be so much more conscious about applying to my life.

Really appreciate this- so solid! As an educator I can definitely attest to the value of the buckets! There were some parents who would always show up for meetings, and others I never met - even with alternative times to meet.

This episode is theeee best I have watched so far, I KNOW I could not have heard this message when it was originally recorded but this is edifying this is nourishment for growth. This is why it's so important to have good, sound, wise counsel, I mean God led folk around you, your whole crew on the same page. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you for helping me in this singleness journey 👌🏾

Wow, the interview was really lovely to listen to. So much happy energy and wisdom. Words preached in a way we could picture and understand. Pastors last words made me tear up, too. Beautifull !!! Laterras, your mission is really powerful and so appreciated. We are wishing your team and you blessed holidays.🙏🏽🎄❤️
