Check out my FREE 4-Part Confidence Workshop! bit.ly/3R9PG9H
I am so excited to have Devon Franklin joining us again for another powerful conversation. Whether you are dating, divorced or happily single, we’re diving into the love lessons you need to build a long-lasting relationship. And let me tell you, it’s more about you than the partner you choose to date.
Devon is a preacher, success coach, and award winning film and tv producer who’s back on the dating scene after a recent divorce. This conversation is about empowering you to prioritize yourself in order to create the healthy loving relationships you deserve.
****Bonus Lesson in Love with Julie Piatt****
And because so much of what Devon and I speak about in this episode is about self-reflection, self-worth, and knowing what you value, I’m including an incredible episode I recorded a while back with the spiritual wellness warrior herself, Julie Piatt. Her story of divorce, love, pain, and lessons, and cherished memories is a powerful reframe to heartbreak and lessons learned.
Chapter Markers:
[00:00] Evaluate Before You Date
[12:57] Be One of One & Worthy
[17:47] Love Hungry Manipulation
[24:12] Open to Abundant Love
[32:41] Acknowledge Reality Not Delusions
[45:36] Who You Attract Is Revealing
[48:36] Conflict, Problems & Truth
[53:59] Use Words Carefully
[59:48] Why Men Cheat
[1:11:00] Make Him Feel Appreciated
[1:32:32] Find the Right Partner with Julie Piatt
Devon Franklin Quotes:
“A lot of times, we have this belief that love is enough, and I don’t believe that it is, [...] love is not enough to overcome differences in core beliefs.”
“Pain brings a lot of clarity if we choose to accept it.”
“You’re one of one, this is about you. This is about who you are, what type of life you want and the love that you want to have in yourself first.”
“If I can be content all by myself, within myself, it really doesn’t even matter if I’m in a relationship.”
“If I do not believe the best about myself, I won’t choose the best for myself.”
“Live in the belief that the best is available to you, all you have to do is wait for it.”
“People mistake commitment for control.”
“I have to make the decisions that are going to set me up for the life that I want and part of that decision making process is resisting the temptation to point the finger.”
“It’s all about accurate thinking. The more inaccurate our thinking, the more inaccurate our life.”
“If someone or something leaves because of my truth, I’ve actually gained, not loss.”

“The man who is healthy, is looking to serve. The man who is toxic is looking to be served.” This! This hit my soul so hard. Dealing with a man who only wanted to be served, it was the most draining experience. I just thank God for bringing me out.
@BaKheru
@BaKheru 7 ай бұрын
I would modify it slightly and say, A healthy individual can serve while allowing others to serve him. There has to be balance. Too much serving is just a toxic as too much taking. Love is unconditional; Relationships are not. Relationships are a delicate dance of give and take on both sides.

I agree. The moment that you have to focus on his needs and how he feel and what he need and after forgiveness from. Multiple cheating because he was not been served then you become someone else that is always wondering if he is not serve he is going to cheat which he did again. But I was consider the toxic person by all the lies he said about me and my character to his friends and family to justify his infidelity. Never knew he was cheating again since his family and friends kept it secret as they watch him and I was taking care of household his health meds appointments and making sure he was stress free to continue to make money as a truck driver. Never had drama and isolated myself from my friends but he was living a double life on social media and text his ex affairs and sexting with childhood friends that are in their 50’s and married. This was not a companion and husband of 31yrs that I imagine living the rest of my life with😢. The side chick was 40yrs old and he was 56. Same circle of old friends from a town that I was blessed to get out of but he refuse to move forward and leave the past behavior behind. So she knew he was married for 31yrs but when you are a cheater females like that know how to target you so I thank god for Seen everything.

@@BaKheruI agree with this. I was serving as much as he was taking but he wanted to be serve and if he didn’t he was condition to cheat and learn from his environment how easy it was and no one would say anything about it or call them out. They called it a way of living and culture in his town. It was disgusting. If you didn’t serve they will just find another female in that town to satisfy them and they will now they was married but it was the culture.

This what I am looking for in my next relationship. I wasted 31yrs with someone that never gave a dam about been a God fearing man and never actually lived in Gods core values. He cheated multiple times and never looked back twice as it been wrong. Continue to sexually engaged with friends and was married. Sextting and social media indicent behavior and neglected our marriage to focus on social media behavior and affair partners. Never ask to go to church or communicate with a pastor or counseling but was very much excited to get burnet numbers and text Pics encounter with affair partners. What is it that you think you love about another person when you two are so different on a basic level? In this case it cannot be love at all, but only attraction 🤷‍♀️. I've often shared this message with women in my circle..when a man approaches you attempting to date you (& there is mutual attraction) the discovery phase starts upon him opening his mouth. As soon as his language does not align with your standards/core beliefs(assuming you have them bcuz you know your worth) dont proceed any further. The short term lust & excitement/good time being offered is not worth the wasted time & 💔ache you will experience when the 🔥 goes out.😢

For me, being seen does not have to do with commenting on my looks or wardrobe but honoring my preferences if they persist after discussion. I wanted a medium size ice chest but my boyfriend insisted I needed a big one. I wanted real flowers, not silk, but he insisted on giving me silk. Even though I told him I wanted to wait until marriage to have sex, he did everything he could to manipulate me into it. I felt unheard and disrespect. I was quickly disappearing as a person. Being seen means being heard and understood. I don't want to be tied to someone who devalues, disrespects, dishonors, refuses me.

I need to listen to this. Glad I came across his interview, everything He said was spot on 💯. I realized I was thirsty to keep up with BS from low vibrational Men even though I created healthy boundaries but it was hard to let go. I deeply want to connect with someone special so we can bond together however, I’ve been ghosted and gaslighted many times. This past week was my last straw because I chose my happiness over the fantasy of who they are not. Thank you so much for sharing your story I can relate 💯💯

It's like I don't like people treating me certain way, that reminds me of my childhood traumas and I wouldn't date guys who trigger those memories even unwillingly. We should feel safe in relationship and understand where everybody is coming from. We shouldn't have constant CPTSD flashbacks bc the other person refuses to acknowledge it.

True but also beware these are Your Flags and it's not fair to hold the other back because you haven't healed. If you don't heal someone will always trigger you. Trigger is the problem.i5s letting your triggers control your actions.

@@joyricherson4570 UGH healing doesn't mean accepting poor behavior. I've thought someone will come up to twist my words like that. I won't overexplain my childhood traumas to make sure somebody won't miss the point. How is having boundaries holding others back? And no need to explain to me what triggers are. If someone experienced severe CPTSD it won't completely vanish, it's part of our nervous system. So it's not "holding anybody's back" to not accepting the same behavior that traumatized me. Gosh

I do believe love is enough!!! Not because you say you love them. But if you truly love someone and they love you, you build and mold yourselves to each other and the future that you both want together.

These are things I’ve been learning in the last 8 months thru watching sermons. I have changed so much for the better. I have less now but I am so happy especially with myself. I love me, I love my own friendship. I’m happy just being me. I’m not desperate and it’s so nice to say I’m sure you are a great person but you are not for me. And then go out to eat or to a movie right by myself. I even go on vacation with me.

WOW! Thank you for putting out quality content! The first 2 minutes are awesome for general rules or lessons on most areas of life - if we can be honest enough with ourselves. Most of us probably need 3rd party/Qualified outside source to assist with seeing Real Truths and not just the unconscious "stories" we tell ourselves. Blessings to all on this journey.

I’m here today because I was contemplating on watching “black romance” movies and I clicked on KZbin in the midst of contemplating of drowning in “when is going to be my turn for love” sorrow and this beautiful gem was waiting for me to retrieve. I’m so glad I opened this today! This is a life changer for me. I’m ready to receive love; I won’t look for it anymore. Thanks Lisa and Devon! 🫶🏾💕✨

The "chocolate cake" is satisfying the lower part of me... NOT the best part of me or who I am becoming... EXPLOSIVE! I am so grateful for these videos. You & your guests speak the words that seem to go unsaid or are so meaningless & simplified (like a parent telling a child "marry the right person" but never explaining the how, what, when, why that provides meaning to the words). A deep Thank you
