You simply can‘t compete with other teams in terms of salary if these teams offer 1 of the top 3 highest paid job spots, which are excluded from the budget cap. RB‘s technical team is gonna get picked off one by one in the next years sadly. Hopefully the younger engineers can replace them for the future and luckily Newey just extended his contract.

I think there's just something more ominous about what they're up to this year. Imagine them switching up a car concept without a major regulation change, and yet this new concept still goes fast. If they can pull this off in less than a year, it's scary to wonder what they can do to make it even faster within the season. If they end up flying past everyone again, this is probably one of the biggest power moves any team could make against everyone else when they already won with a large margin last year. I've said it before with Max that he's the F1 driver mentality of not wanting to loose or give an inch dialed up to 11, and that's what gets him his high level of performance. Now, the team is also going down that path as well with them looking like they're about to wipe the floor with everyone again.
@valkeitos8 ай бұрын
The more ominous thing was not only about GP's smile but also the fact that Red Bull seem to have been running high fuel and a low engine mode the whole of testing. If that's the case then RB have a lot more pace in hand that we may not even consider.
@danporti39428 ай бұрын
I think everyone is assuming their aero dept is what makes them better, while probably it's more like a suspension, chassis, etc. I think this change in whole concept is actually a good sign that while aero can be changed completely, the car is still dominating. In few years we may know the actual secret RB had these years and I bet it's not gonna be mainly aero.

@EntropicExergy8 ай бұрын
Allison is the one who is responsible for the zeropod idea to begin with, he just jumped ship (literally, to play with sailing boats) on time to pin the blame on Elliott. For all those lulu/merc cultists who hyped up the guy, they sure seem hoping a lot that Newey goes to ferrari and not Allison. Luckily, RB is his baby as much as it is Horner's, he will only leave RB to retire, Newey will never go to ferrari (the only exception would be if Max were to go to ferrari and ask Newey to follow him there, Max is such a joy for him to work with). No, Allison doesn't even get to polish Newey's shoes, that is the gap between them in engineering prowess, a gap the size of the grand canyon. No shame in that though, considering Newey is the GOAT of F1 engineering and design.

@@slevingaius Not really, he was trackside engineer at ferrari, not all that special. Then he went to merc in 2017 as chief aerodynamicist, when all the groundwork had already been finished for the car. He was the one responsible for the zeropod concept, so he isn't all that. Those merc/lulu fans have little clue of engineering in F1 so of course they would hail the father of the zeropod, despite him not being all that good. He went to sailing boats because he was bored, but not before coming up with the porpoising, draggy mess that was the zeropod concept. I personally don't think he was bored, it was his first time where he was responsible for the overal car concept. Elliott was the fall guy in case it went wrong, which it clearly did. His move from ferrari to merc was because of his wife dying, back in 2017. It's no Newey, that much is obvious and that is probably also the reason why lulu is jumping to ferrari next season. When driving in the sim it became pretty obvious that car wasn't going to be challenging Max/RB, hence the escape to ferrari. Horner already told about calls from Hamilton's father about joining RB, but RB wouldn't bite. After all, why get a driver that is over the hill when you have Max? Exactly, you don't.

Apart from the sausage cannon design the concept is not very similar to mercs 0 pod... Redbull has basically taken the down washing sidepod concept to the extreme and added a vertical inlet below it to assist with boundary layer to maximize the down washing efficiency. The cooling system has evolved with the sidepod inlets , the 2 added inlets where the halo connects to the chassis and the regular inlet up with the roll hoop. There are 2 additional inlets midway up the nose for driver cooling ( some have the inlets in the tip of the nose , others such as merc and Redbull have it higher up )

I think a good part of it is that, when it comes down to it, I truly do not think Max will willingly throw a race or undersell his own capabilities, even when it's in his best interests. The same was hard to say for a lot of lewis' reign, as even when he was dominant, there were times it would randomly slip, or the car would seem meh, only to be back later. That plus mercades' constant undertuning of the engine and whatnot. When someone makes a pass on max (like Leclerc in 2022 or Norris in 2023) or actually pulls a race out of his grip (sainz being a good example) it means SO MUCH because you know max is PISSED about it, and he will not take it. As for the horner allegations, I can't say I'm up to date as I don't follow red bull stuff that closely, but if they do turn out true, I absolutely agree. It'd be a complete shame, especially if it broke up the superteam. I want to see red bull fought fair and square, not crumble from within. That would be a battle for the ages like 2021. It was much more fun to see the fights between max and Charles in 2022 and how they talked after the race. I liked Singapore because Sainz won, and he won because he was driving smart with the tow for Norris. I think Ferrari made a big mistake by giving Lewis a contract, he is a good driver but he is at the end of his career, he is no Alonzo. They are sending Sainz away.. totally crazy. It’s not even that similar of a concept they have inlets and still maintain side pods. And then the hunches on top are way more extreme than Mercedes and look to be some how for cooling or aero related.

First they let all the other teams reveal their car's (all RB19 clones obviously) let them pound their chest exclaiming " we're gonna challenge Red Bull this year!" Then they reveal the RB20 deliberetly the last team to show their car, it being a bolt new design; all other teams became real quite all of s sudden Then during testing they showed a fair bit of potential but not all of it; case and point most top teams attempted a glory run on C4 or C5 softs; Red Bull despite having C4's available never even touched them. Only sowing more doubt in the minds of the competition. Can't deny that Red Bull are masters in psychological warfare; because everyone is seemingly scared sh**less about Max can do in the RB20 next Satuday. If Max wins with a 15+ second gap you can bet your a$$ the other teams will be morally completely decimated.
@p0t4toePotato8 ай бұрын
why do you call it a zero pod? the sidepods are nowhere near as flat and molten like the merc had, they bulge out as much as their big boy shoulders , the sidepods as extruded as they are allow for strongly guided airflow ontop and below of the pods, its just the intake slits that are narrow...

I don't get why there's a constant need to a response to a first impression; as if posting a couple of days later (or after first full race weekend) would make you feel like losing relevance..., but what if this complete domination doesn't work next week? That's when this video suddenly becomes bad comedy. The first impression is that Red Bull are ahead, but honestly I don't think there's much difference with last season when it comes to single lap pace. Especially Ferrari seems alright. The Mercedes drives easier than the last two seasons; that could indicate they're starting the season with less of a disadvantage. If McLaren makes a similar jump forward to last season, that would leap them ahead suddenly. And I think that's how we ought to enter the season. If the gap between Red Bull and the rest isn't as convincing as last season in Bahrain, I think Ferrari and Mercedes, or McLaren could play catch-up. But I don't need a video to state my case, just 10 months time.

And just like that all the DTS hype will vanish. The dominance will bore the DTS to death and they will leave. Some will say that's a good thing but I personally enjoyed all the hype and attention our sport got for the last few years. Also as a lifelong fan I knew this was going to happen. When the F1, FIA and Ross Brawn were screaming that these new regs would be the most competitive yet, I knew that was a lie. But I didn't expect all that talk just to end up with the most dominating performance by a team and driver ever. It did the complete opposite of what they promised us.
@adriancojocaru58468 ай бұрын
but they were right - in these regs first and last are closer than ever, and before Mercedes started complaining in the summer of 2022, every race was a real banger - multiple lead changes, loads of overtakes, cars could follow the cars in front of them without ruining their tires etc. I blame Toto and Lewis for this, they were so mad because of their new position that they spoiled the greatest season ever (it had that potential until Ferrari were destroyed by that TD39 while RedBull were unaffected).

You can see a little bit of the RB 19 in every car on the grid. Except the RB 20. Wait, I think the mirrors are he same! I like almost all the drivers, and over half of the teams. I sure hope the field gives us many different drivers win. People who have hate in their life, will always find something or someone to hate. They are terrible winners, and even worse as a loser.

@EntropicExergy8 ай бұрын
Bet you didn't say that when merc did it with lulu, when the sport did actually nearly die. RB is dominating in a way where they make it exciting, since Max ensures spectale in his winning. Merc does it in a boring way, because they are nothing but a bunch of boring accountants. F1 would be better off with those toxic losers at merc being gone (and that includes that woke loser lulu as well), RB is what makes F1 exciting and the sport would be worse off without them.
