This soundtrack shows how ambient music plays a heavy influence on the way we interpret things: Roanoke Ridge and Roanoke Valley are two of the most beautiful areas in the game. And yet all it was needed to make it creepy and spooky (excluding obvious areas like Beaver's Hollow) was this song. Try to ride throught these areas with mute ambient music to see what I mean. It's more the song to blame than anything else.
@Lolpy.4 жыл бұрын
Hell, with the music off Roanoke Ridge still feels off. Even the locations itself looks somehow foreign and alien. I’m unsure on how to describe it, but it just looks... wrong. One time I was riding up by Roanoke Ridge and a snake literally just died, right in front of me. Nothing shot at it, no noise, I didn’t kill it, it just rolled over a died. After that I’ve always felt uncomfortable through there.
@laercioeso4 жыл бұрын
@@Lolpy. interesting experience... Still, I think you are only feeling that because you knew Roanoke Ridge for the first time with the music playing. And first impression is the one that lasts, as there are many similar bugs around the map and none of them indicates the place is haunted or the like... For instance, I was playing my second playthrough just yesterday, and a perfect skin DEAD buck just pop out from nowhere behind me when I was collecting herbs. It was not rotten, it was a 3 star buck, I didn't shoot it and I was completely alone by nighttime. The detail is that it happened in front of the entrance to Horseshoe Overlook, near the Heartlands, a place we know there's no supernatural activity going on in the game...

The blue dot would also disappear and reappear again, but both times it reappeared it's at an exact spot of a chest, even tho i couldn't see this player's character this helped me locate the chest, as soon as i opened it this music just started playing and i felt really uneasy. Ran the hell outta there but the music kept playing... but it could be just some players (modders especially) like to go to that place specifically just to scare others..

This soundtrack makes it all the better with the creepy vibe of the region. We know that with our dead eye and how very powerful the volcanic pistol is we can easily headshot the Murfrees who dare to ambush us on our travels. But this sort of ambient music makes it all the more sinister along with the dark hidden secrets we can find. We secretly hope that we don’t get ambushed by the Murfrees. And secretly we don’t want to visit this region until Chapter 6 of this game. However I am a completionist there are bones carvings and points of Interests exotics and more of this area and I visited the region as early as Chapter 2. My only advice I have to give to the new coming players is that avoid this region at night. Always watch the tree line. Beware of Strangers that you can hear but cannot see. Ride quickly as possible to either Annesburg Van Horn or Amborino or until you see the swamps of Lemoyne. If you so happen to run into the Murfrees. Kill them all

The first time I was in Roanoke Ridge was when I was doing the legendary gunslinger missions when the gang was in Saint Denis, and when I got to near Beaver Hollow I didn't feel nothing strange, I loved the place, I didn't stay much because I didn't want to spoil the zone too much, because I was suspecting that the next chapter will get the gang up there, and I was hyping for it. Then guarma happened, and then chapter six happened, and starting with Butcher Creek, and then the Murfrees, and then the state of the gang at the camp...I started to being scared of the region and it started making me depressed. It was like a creepypasta. There are plethora of creepy places in rdr2 but this one it's... Different. although I like the zone, I tend to avoid it if I don't have to go there. In the epilogue I found suddenly the grave of Susan Grimshaw randomly when explorating the zone, and this track started playing. I legit was scared because I knew the whispering forest existed in Roanoke Ridge, and when I started hearing this song it scared the shit out of me, like if Susan Grimshaw's ghost was watching me. It was daytime in the game but... Fuck PS: although the gang was fucked and depressed in Lakay, I don't have negative memories of that zone, I suppose that's it because the gang was there too briefly

@@Forestgravy90 I don't think the game tries to adhere to the proportions of the United States. The fact that the region is called Roanoke Ridge as a reference to either Roanoke colony or Roanoke, Virginia, in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains where coal mining is also its primary business tells me that they are trying to evoke that particular coal mining country. Yet they also amalgamate it with the fictional heartland state of New Hannover and its German diaspora, hence the major settlement in the region is called Annesburg and it has a beerhall instead of a saloon.

This song is the sound of Arthers twilight years.

I always heard this when near San Denise or riding around Roanoak when Arthur was dying. it sounds like the encroaching decay of civilization and the subtle brutality it brings with it, spelling doom for the old ways of the west.

I heard this part randomly when I was playing and my first thought was “this sounds just like the mandalorian”
