I think this is what I enjoyed most about the game. The story, gameplay, missions seemed to pull in different directions to each other . Apart from engaging with people at camp, RDR2 was at it's purest when you were wandering off into the hills with your horse and this music to see what you could find. Such beautiful solitude

Arthur singing to himself sometimes kinda caught me off guard tho lol
@dr.peppersgeronimo41334 жыл бұрын
I agree, except I feel that the story was trying to best represent the uncertainty, chance, and surprises that real life throws at you. All of the missions do have some sort of cohesive basis that connects with the main plot, which I think is a great reason of how incredible Dan Houser and his team were at writing this masterpiece. But maybe Guarma was a little silly lol
@Arley424 жыл бұрын
@@dr.peppersgeronimo4133 Guarma was all kinds of strange. (I wonder if you could miss it off and it not negatively impact the rest of the experience) The tension and story is on a high point after the bank heist and loss of friends, but then your character and chums are sent to Assassin's Creed island for an hour. It's like a different game. Do any of the main gang die during the shipwreck, capture, revolt, etc? It's like an odd fantasy/dream intermission. "Your gang can't make it work in your world, but here they are invincible and can overthrow those in power in a few short missions".... But my biggest grief with Guarma is that this Pirate Holiday chapter takes away some of the surprise, shock and devastation of Arthur's revelation shortly after he returns to cowboy-land. After the sadness and chaos for the bank heist and then the adventures of Tropical exploits, when we then return to the main map, I didn't have time to adjust from the previous few hours to work out where Arthur was mentally or how he should be feeling. I could probably keep typing for hours on here, but I'll try and keep my thoughts narrow here. I don't think the main story is a Masterpiece because of the missions, or perhaps even the writing as a whole. In fact, I'm not sure I enjoyed many of the story missions at all. They all tended to be ride here and chat to this person, but then something will go south and you shoot a bunch of dudes. If you burned through the story quickly then you played the opposite way to the way I enjoyed the game. Not saying mine was right. The game didn't feel it knew how it wanted you to play it. Long, slow animations for picking up items, cleaning your guns, skinning animals seemed to suggest a realistic and grounded atmosphere. But good god help you if you tried to take a moment to look at something or swap a weapon in a story mission. Your companion will immediately be heckling you "Arthur over here", "C'mon Arthur", "This way"...... I wished there was a button to say "Hey listen buddy, I like you and we are in a gang-family, but I swear if you don't let me loot these pocket-watches I will throw dynamite at your back".... Or that Casino Boat Heist Mission. A location you'll never visit previously or again after. You play it naturally and at the end a judgmental medal ranking pops up on screen and says you did it wrong because you didn't escape the boat in 50 seconds. Rockstar games don't have a difficulty option at the start, but I wish it had a play style option. Do you want to enjoy the world? or do you want to get achievements/trophies? I think the game is a masterpiece because of the world they let you explore, the music and sound design, and also that they really let you play as Arthur. You can talk to strangers and back at camp to really feel a part of the world. My Arthur fed his horse a little too much, would catch a show in the theater because he bloody loved it and longed for an option to remove the second holster so that he could appear more civilized in cutscenes and about town. TLDR summary: The game is beautiful, but the intended gameplay isn't. The character that shines through from all the effort from the team is incredible. I think about this game often. But will probably never play it again
@mclovinjr90864 жыл бұрын
@@Arley42 Agree with pretty much everything you said. I wish there was more freedom in how to approach missions too, I remember playing GTA 4 as a kid and in all those years not a lot has changed in terms of mission structure, even though the potential to was there. Imagine RDR2 with deep stealth mechanics, and solid free aim controls (always hated auto lock-on but the free aim feels so stiff and clunky in RDR2). The gameplay could have been so much more, as well as the missions. In the end though, the sheer beauty of the world alone is worth the price tag. No other game world feels so alive.

I live out in the suburban country where there’s an occasional car coming by. I can walk across the road and see a pasture of cows. It gets quiet very easily out here. It’s almost as if all the things you hear on news hasn’t been touched out here. RDR2 made me realize, the solace and peace is right there, it’s just outside your door. Just walk outside, sit on the porch and take it all in. You can turn on KZbin and listen to this while staring out there. It’s very blissful.

The best part about wandering around in this game for me was not only the music - but looking up and seeing the stars. The thing about red dead is that this is a game you can play for hours. I don’t know how many times I’ve caught myself just roaming the land and listing to nothing but the sweet sounds of nature. I know that some people who’ve never played this game might think we’re just idiots wasting our time on this game, but in reality this game is the most realistic depiction of beauty. You can go for hours and hours on your horse just looking around and enjoying the scenery and beautiful landscape. I’ve been playing video games for 17 years now and I’ve never had an experience similar to red dead. Even my three year old sits on the couch with me and just enjoys looking at the tv and listening to the background music.

Started PC gaming in the late 90's ( Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires ) and I've played many different games over the years. Really enjoyed the original RDR back in 2010 but got to say that RDR2 is one of the best games I have ever played.

Imagine watching random RDR2 videos in 10 years.... Oh, the nostalgia. I just can't.

The work you have done on all these ambient RDR2 vides is invaluable. Thank you for such a relaxing escape. Do you ever share the original audio outputs from these? I would love all the RDR2 tracks without having to rip them as MP3s while losing some of the fidelity. Thanks!

I am Azorian (From Azores west of Portugal), and I want to visit Wyoming so bad, forget everything and everyone, buy a licence for a hunting rifle, take a backpack, stuff some food, water and supplies, go on boat to the state of Georgia, and just start walking until I get to Wyoming, take in the view, visit the ranch there, "Jackson Hole", see how they live there, maybe learn from them, it'd be beautiful. And if I still had anything left in my legs, walk to my aunt's home in Canada, goddamn, what an adventure.

Red Dead Redemption 1 ambient is more fitting for a western set game. Just had that perfect snake rattle and subtle tone to it

First game is a cowboy game, this game is like a frontier game to me. And never liked the south

I liked the piano type of ambient music in rd1, I feel like they missed the mark a bit with the ambience in this game. I like the guitar but there’s not enough variation in it.

maybe because RDR2 takes place in the east?
@GOOOOOOLden_boy4 жыл бұрын
Well, maybe because RDR 1 territories, which is only west and part of Mexico is just around ⅕ of RDR 2 map, where also available north, east, south and heartlands of US territories? I think RDR 1 is western game, but RDR 2 is not only about west, so, of course it's not quite western game, but this game still have part of it

Jesus. I pre-orderd this game back in 2018, I rember the release of rdro I was there for it all. It's crazy to think this game is 3 years old already it's definitely in my top 5 of my favorite games. I'll never forget the map, the characters, the guns, the fun I've had, the memories and most importantly that the game is still around and I'm still playing.
