Rdr1s map also feels like it could fit in with the real US border, aside from the river flowing the wrong way. Rdr2s map feels like they condensed everything way too much. The south is only a few miles away from the desert, it makes no sense.

Rdr2 backgrounds also look claustrophobic and weird. In rdr1 the backgrounds look so massive and realistic just look at new austin or west elizabeth. You really FEEL like youre there. Rdr2 just looks like a condensed rpg assassins creed world simulation. I also think rdr1 is much more immersive.

7 Reasons I Like RDR1 Over RDR2: 1. Better Deadeye: John's deadeye is the best deadeye in the series, not only is he FASTER & More ACCURATE than Arthur Morgan, but John Marston in deadeye mode takes 0 Damage from Gunshots, essentially becoming a juggernaut 2. Better Duels: The Duels in RDR1 are significantly better than RDR2 Duels, there were much more duels in RDR1 as well, depending on which difficulty you play at in rdr1, enemies can draw just fast as you and even faster. 3. Better Guns: Obviously the guns in rdr1 are better and one factor is because of the era it takes place, RDR2's time is set in 1899, while RDR1's time is in 1911 and 1914, meaning RDR1 has higher technology & better guns, The guns in rdr1 are also much more consistent in damage and speed, meanwhile the guns in RDR2 will drop damage, accuracy, and speed overtime. 4. Infinite Stamina: In RDR1 John Marston never runs out of stamina and can run forever, RDR2, John and Arthur run out of stamina. 5. Faster Horses: The Horses in RDR1 outrun the horses in RDR2. 6. There is More Action: In rdr1 we simply see more gunfights and battles than RDR2. 7. RDR1 Is A More Realistic (Wild West) Game: While both games are inaccurate in terms of historical wild west events, RDR1 is more realistic in this genre, and looks even more realistic like you're actually closely in the Wild West. RDR2 Should be more realistic due to the fact that the Wild West in History was bigger in 1899 than 1911, The American Frontier Ended in 1912 and RDR1 was still more accurate of a wild western game, though its really still a spaghetti western game.
@elguitarTom9 ай бұрын
The only thing I wished the RDR games had was: - Bullet ballistics (so enemies can' snipe you a mile away) - Proper smoke emitting from the guns and staying longer before they disappear (Warband mods does this well) - More replay value = make a "live in the west mode" where you have to eat, drink and stay warm for surival (could be unlocked afte finishing the game).

Rdr2 boring asf the missions drag out in comparison to the first game
@Saviour3010 ай бұрын

@sniperwolf1111113 ай бұрын
I think one of the biggest problem with rdr2 imo is that everything (as far as missions are concerned, both story and secondary) is hyper scripted. Even the bounty hunting missions are all scripted. “Go here, watch a cutscene, capture the bad guy in a very specific on rails way” rather than giving the player the capacity and free reign to approach the bounty how they would like, e.g sniper the target from long distance, stalk and take them out stealthy etc. free roaming however, hunting, free roam gunfights, are where the game truly shines. Bounty hunters chasing you through the bush as you desperately try to escape. Unfortunately the open world is too bare in my view to keep one entertained for a long time. The missions really needed to be up to the same kind of level and give the player much more agency. Even the gunfights in missions feel completely stale. The ai seems to be wooden and again, on rails, spawning from the same location, taking cover in the same location, standing there shooting like idiots, as opposed to the ai in free roam which is much better during gunfights. Extremely disappointing missed opportunity rdr2 is. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it first playthrough, cause it was fresh, however the story has zero replayability and even on the first playthrough much of it I found tedious. May as well watch a movie, constantly holds your hand and it’s not even a challenge. Could have at least added a hardcore difficulty mode like the first game did.
@sniperwolf1111113 ай бұрын
Not to mention, the gunplay and physics feels worse than in rdr1. Much worse. Rdr1 nailed it. Like how did they go backwards there… It’s a shooting game set in the Wild West, which at its core revolves around… shorting. They put time and effort into making horse testicles shrink in cold weather (like seriously who gives a shit, stupid gimmick) but the guns and shooting feels like trash 🤨 The one thing they really should’ve nailed… Rockstar really need to fire whoever is responsible for developing the guns/gun sounds. GTA V was laughably bad. Rdr2 isn’t much better, as far as the sounds are concerned at least. Like a multi billion dollar company, how hard is it to take a day trip to a gun range? And hire a small team to give rdr2 a next gen update while you’re at it. No faith in rockstar anymore.

For some weird reason I felt the map in RDR2 was smaller. Perhaps due to wasted space like the snowy hills that you rarely visit again, the huge swamps thare are just boring. They should have had a big desert area instead, and mexico and more variation in the nature. Also that huge like at the end of the map is a waste of space. And yes the RDR1 had better euphoria physics and was just overall fun to play.

The very reason that the immersion in RDR2 is so good is because almost every single action that the characters can do is fully animated to look real, the world is full of life, from people to the smallest bugs, all of them have something to do and somewhere to go, and (in my opinion) RDR2 has THE most immersive and realistic world ever created, and on top of that fantastic script writing, voice acting and story. RDR was a great game too and still one of my favorit games. But RDR2 took it to another level, that so far (for me ) no other game has been able to match.

Clearly you haven't understood neither RDR1 nor RDR2 and that's why you won't understand RDR3. First of all RDR2 is what Take Two wanted to do with RDR1 but couldn't. That said, RDR2 is set in 1899, the end of the cowboy and outlaws era, and RDR1 is set in 1910, where cowboys didn't exist anymore, so keep that in mind because that alone just blows your argument. And it's ok, is just your opinion, I've enjoyed both games (I'm 11 years older than you) I guess I have a different understanding on what story video games are. I think you might be missing the point of the "slow" gameplay of RDR2. It gives the perception of the slower days of the "Wild West", by forcing you to slow down and just appreciate how things were done. Many younger players just want action all the time, and don't know how to just relax and enjoy.

Red Dead Redemption 2 looks nice and is very detailed but honestly it gets boring very quickly, especially in free roam. There's just not that much to do besides look at the world, and that gets old fast. It's not even a game that I want to replay. I can't give it more than a 7/10 even at its best moments. Red Dead Redemption 1 on the other hand is actually fun in free roam because it's more similar to GTA in gun-play and general mechanics. RDR2 is just too simulator-y for its own good in my honest opinion. Yeah it's a good game, but I honestly don't even know if I would recommend it. There are other games to play that are a lot more fun.

Why can’t we have and appreciate “movie games” and think they are awsome and fun and impressive for what they are as well as appreciating everything else? I don't agree at all, People that find RDR2 too slow are more of an instant gratification, want things to happen NOW! instantly and magickly. RDR2 is a masterpiece of realism, and made to reflect realism as close as possible for a game, go back to Call of duty or other instant gratification games and leave RDR2's mechanics and simulation alone.
@Saviour30 Жыл бұрын
Completely disagree, as a stoic I don’t care about instant gratification and I don’t use platforms to give me that dopamine rush. I’m very mindful about what I take in. However when I’m playing a game I want to feel immersed and this “ realism “ you speak of pulls me out of the experience as it’s not consistent or fun in my view in the media format which is a video game 🎮
@shawnbyers6947 Жыл бұрын
I actually think a lot of people play video games for instant gratification and escapism. They want to become powerhouse characters impossible in real life society and do things that would otherwise have varying real-life consequences. If you want realism and feeling true satisfaction, go outside. Stop playing video games and experience our beautiful planet Earth. Go contribute to society and do good deeds. There is a fine line between fun and realism in video games and imo, RDR2 borders on simulation when most casual players are coming from the zanny, arcade fun that is GTA V. We don't need chores and metres to manage in our Rockstar titles. We just want to blow sh*t up and have an epic narrative 😎 👏. Oh, and not to mention to escape our real life expectations and responsibilities for a period of time.

It's definietly nostalgia. I am currently playing through RDR1 after beating RDR2 and it's a fucking chore. There is 0 incentive from the game to go explore, hunt and do bounties unlike RDR2. Being unable to swim and instantly dying when going in to waist high water is fucking insane (Yes, I know John can't swim in RDR2 as well). Got to finish the story before comparing that component but RDR1's gameplay is no better than RDR2 in anyway. In RDR2, it's paced slowly and gives you time to explore. Playing RDR1 right now and for now only I can say - it's old game, nothing special, Rockstar copied many things from RDR to RDR2,, especially from the beginning of the story and put that to RDR2. There are so many similar things and stories in both games. I'm PC gamer so I never had a chance to olay RDR1, I'll play it and we'll see which one is better but yeah, RDR2 is overrated, that's for sure, we'll see how will RDR be. For now, first few hrs - nothing special. it's raw amd odd but OK, it's 14 year old game. We'll see

I love both. But RDR1 is more fun and action packed.
