This mission shows a side of Uncle that hadn't been seen previously, and thinking about it made me grow respect for the character. In RDR2 he's infamously lazy, incapable, and cowardly. It was rare that he ever got his hands dirty or contributed to making money for the gang. After he reunites with John, he helps to a degree, but the theme basically runs on. And as soon as the army shows up, John tells him, "There's still time for you to run, old man.", yet he doesn't. He doesn't hide either. We would have expected the old Uncle to at least hide in the house with Abigail, but instead, he opts to fight the army with John. He knew it was a death sentence, but I believe he came to terms with that and spent the last moments protecting the people he cares about. I just think it's a remarkable moment of bravery for that character which is often overlooked.

Perseus Jackson So as we all know from RDR2, Micah was the rat of the gang and gave info to the Pinkertons. When u see him in American Venom, he is accompanied by Dutch, which would make one thing that he actually had Dutch come to his hideout to turn him in to the law: segwaying into my next point. After finishing the game, when the credits play, there are scenes of what happy to the surviving members of the gang. One of those scenes is two Pinkertons reaching the peak of Mount Hagen, just to find there little rat dead. In red dead 1, the Synopsis is that the government found Beechers Hope and kidnapped Johns family, and they will only return them if John captures or kills Dutch, Bill, and Javier. You can infer that if Micah never got killed by John, the Pinkertons, and therefore the government would have never found John’s ranch, and the first game would not have happened

Just like how they tracked Micah(to kill him) even after he cooperated with them. They went all the way to Mexico for Javier, they wanted to kill every single one of em. Not only was it his job as the new head of the bureau of investigation (initial version of the FBI) but it was also personal from his Pinkerton days. I don't think Edgar Ross would've retired until he knew for a fact that every single member of the Dutch Van der Line gang was dead. They probably would've tried to kill Arthur too had he cooperated with them when they tried to coerce him

@@erikma5638 GTA community is one hell of hipocrisy, when gta SA came out, there were people hating it saying it missed content from vice city like more weapon variations, Pizza job Side mission, etc. when GTA IV came out, people hated it and said SA was better because it was lacking some Side missions, Weapons, the driving was complicated because you had to basically desaccelarate to turn every corner, because it had REALISTIC driving, the game was lacking content from GTA SA etc. yet GTA IV's story is superior to GTA SA story. and when V came out, people started hating it saying it was inferior to gta IV because it lacked Side missions, the Story was bad, boring characters, the driving was too unrealistic etc. in reality you can't agree with them, you have to at least play it by yourself rather than blindly agree with those hypocrites.

The thing with John's death is the made you feel like it's over.. They made you feel like you're a part of a family again and it was all worth something doing what you did. Playing RDR2 and coming back this mission had so much perspective to be considered, I think the most fascinating realization is despite being lazy, despite being all talk and despite being a worthless old drunk. Uncle was a true ride or die, he was a huge pain in the ass but in the end all memes aside Uncle fought till the end and ultimately gave his life for the Marstons. Those who never played the first would probably never guess Uncle was one of the very last Van Der Lindes standing.

i always wondered what would happen if the last mission took place at MacFarlane's Ranch instead of Beecher's Hope. it ends where it begins as they say. how i imagine it would go down is that archer fordham rides quickly to John's home and warns him of the impending attack/betrayal by ross. John moves his family to the ranch to make their stand there with some "back up". by "back up" everyone who assaulted fort mercer would be there plus landon ricketts. an epic gunfight ensues just like at Beecher's but bigger and more awesome. at the end Ross is fatally wounded by Ricketts but it is John that delivers the coup de grace. a party is held afterwards. during the festivities John is informed by fordham that he is pardoned for good this time thanks to "evidence of corruption" found on Ross' body and office. in a way the last of enemy/loose end that needed to get rid was Ross instead of John.

I always admired how loyal john marston is to the player. From the moment you get off the train you're free to do whatever you please with marston. He never questions your decisions and always follows them. You can kill anyone, anything go anywhere it doesnt matter he does it. And you help him in his entire life. As Arthur as well. There is a time where he also briefly looks at you during a mission as if joking with you. Unlike tony montana from scarface who wont kill any innocent civilian. John will. Even his last moments he shares them with you giving you the honour of marking down the agents so you can kill them. And he makes amends for his death. Almost immediately giving you his boy jack to continue your adventures in the west. And jack is no less than his father. He even does his level best to make the player not miss john going as far to dress as him to comfort the player. The marstons truly deserve the best from their fanbase for their loyalty.
