I like how despite pretty much EVERY single character using you for their own agendas, except the MacFarlane family, most of them still deliver on their end of the deal. Even Dickens who was one of the sleaziest characters modded his carriage into a surprise murder machine so you could have a better chance of taking Williamson.

Albert2341 that’s what I loved about this mission. Usually in a western when the good guys band up they are all badasses with their own unique skills while in this they are quirky, strange and not the type you’d expect to raid a fort filled with outlaws. The only ones capable of actually doing anything is John and the Marshal. The deputies could be capable but would probably die and Dickinson, Seth and Irish would just flee

One thing I've noticed is now after becoming a fan of western films, after having played RDR 1 is that each portion of the game basically plays out like 1 of three types of western films. New Austin, this first section, plays out like a golden age western taking a lot of inspiration from The Magnificent Seven, (notice that even at the final mission we have a crew band together to take out seemingly insurmontable odds, 1:25 look! Seven people in the cinematic) Mexico is a Spaghetti western full of references to the dollars trilogy and specially Sergio Leone's underrated masterpiece "Duck, You Sucker!" Also known as Once Upon a Time in the Revolution And finally Blackwater and the northern parts are similar in tone to a revisionist western like Unforgiven or The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, with a dark, sad and melancholic tone.

Yes, yes you can. It seems like not many people are aware of this feature, but if you go to the pause menu and select stats, you’ll get the option to select missions and choose which one you want to replay. If I’m not mistaken, it’s actually required for you to get gold on all the missions if you want to 100% the game. At least that’s how I got Jack’s government outfit that makes you immune to the law.
