Obviously, there's a PC version coming. But they know it will be cracked and available to a much wider audience willing to play "cracked" games on PC, vs the number that will pirate the Switch version or have the means to run a backup on PS4. SO they need to mop up that market first, maximize income, then release the version that could be cracked in a couple days last.

Rockstar doesn't exist anymore. Everyone who made the good games left. All they have left is the IPs. That's why they're so hostile towards modding. They know that modders are profoundly better than what they're capable of. GTA trilogy and Red Dead Online being prime examples of this. They're dreading what happens after GTA6 gets it's gargantuan initial sales boom and everyone realizes that Rockstar hasn't existed since all the talent left after Red Dead 2, their swan song. I wouldn't be surprised if gta4, bully, and even table tennis all get "definitive editions" before 6 comes out and Rockstar only exists to milk GTA Online whales.

I think the product is fine but the price is debatable. I think the game would need to run at 60 fps if it released on the ps5, which is why they are doing a 1080p30/4k30 version for ps4. And the switch port I think will be impressive. Maybe 40 would be a better starting price for this game.

"Is a straight port good enough?" entirely depends. For a non-Rockstar example, Koei Tecmo and IdeaFactory are pretty infamous for their PC releases being mediocre to straight up bad, and they usually just do straight ports with very little optimization (Although this is still an issue on consoles) and quality of life features you'd expect from a PC release. They're mostly concerned about crashing issues, and that's about it, not even console related bugs that are still present. So the system requirements they list are usually misleading and underselling it. But in the context of RDR1 and Rockstar, It's a PS3 era game, and it would be extremely surprising if there wasn't the horsepower to bump the framerate to 60, at least on PS5 (Yes, you can release a PS4 version of a game that supports the PS5 hardware to a degree). Hell, Red Dead 2 can apparently run at 60 as shown by some of the patches from Illusion on a modded PS5 with an early firmware version. This really puts a nail in the coffin of the claims that Redditors were peddling to excuse the lack of a PC version of RDR1, that being "the codebase apparently being complex" despite none of them having any experience with said codebase, and Reddit being well-known for making assumptions about how a game operates based on nothing (look at the physics tied to FPS scapegoat that they constantly use, when 99% of them haven't even used a debugger to test that theory). It's all actually because Rockstar is infamous for double/triple-dipping culture, and there's a reason that the GTA V raytracing enhancements haven't came to PC yet either (part of it is due to shark cards, but I wouldn't put it past them to put those features behind another paywall in the future). Switch ports (outside of 360 era games and before) do have a track record for being mediocre cashgrabs though. The only exceptions being Doom Eternal, The Witcher 3, and Rocket League. The only upside of this RDR Switch port is that it might be easier to emulate at a high framerate than the 360 version. One option you can also do is to just dump the easily accessible 360 version that's on sale by installing it to a USB on an Xbox 360, and then using a PC tool to convert that install into a usable ROM with Xenia. That will be better in some regards than the Series X and vastly better than this new remaster.

Never played it but I did boot it up on One X and Series X. To be honest, I love the native Xbox enhancements and being able to see these games as they were intended in higher fidelity. No poor decisions, no low budget issues, no cash cowing, just the original unadulterated experience. The Master Chief Collection has soured me on ports and re releases, even 10 years later that game is performing and looking worse than it did when it launched, despite obvious upgrades elsewhere.

It's got mod tool support (which we can't be beggars and choosers about, but its a great addition despite many issues) but the actual games on Xbox are often worse than before despite some added features. The short list off the top of my head CE has more audio issues than before CE has broken scripting and/or AI logic CEA graphics draw broken shadows of you start in classic graphic H2A SP performance is lower across the board and can dip into the mid 20s or low 30s (start last mission when you have the specter vs ghosts) H2A MP is displaying lower quality MIP maps than it did at launch Custom Skins can cause crashes and lockups on Xbox Not all games operate on the old 30 FPS logic, if you play on PC this is most visible during the space fight on reach where changing the FPS makes the fight more difficult, but this seems to be a global undiagnosable issue across multiple titles, it just is most apparent in the space combat because of how fast and import the AI tracking and accuracy gets borked by the refresh rate and the lack of cover and such. Most of these issues have been known for years where the CE scripting and/or ai logic is relatively newer. The speed run community is very good at detecting that one but I haven't checked in on it in a while. @@Gr00t

The xbox plays this game in 4k and slightly updated graphics through backwards compatibility, multiplayer included, all u need is a $10 rdr 360 disc, or u can buy the whole thing game of the year edition for $27. Pc emulation u can have up to 240fps or 4k 100fps. This is the biggest tragedy in entertainment history. Since rdr 2 was the one of the greatest things in entertainment history. I tryed playing rdr 1 but the graphics were too old n terrible n no first person ruins it. I have been dying to play a remake of rdr1 and waiting years n they drop this joke on us. Majority of rdr 1 already exists in rdr2 all they had to was make the missions & cutscenes free money on the table I would pay more then full price for that, I would pay $140 for a ultimate edition. Im depressed, I literally used to search up red dead redemption 1 remake leaks every other day for the past 6 years since rdr 2 came out

Take-Two's CEO is arguably the most anti-consumer lead exec in the business. His statements are nearly always littered with insults and goading remarks towards people buying their products along the Todd Howard lines of "if they keep buying it, we'll keep making it" but with the lowest effort imaginable. This re-release shouldn't be bought by anyone. It's a test by Take Two to see how little effort they can put and still get sales profits.

I love how rockstar says that they brought Red Dead Redemption to "modern" platform 🤣 The PS4 came out in 2013 and is 10 years old as of 2023! The Switch might have come out in 2017 however the hardware (Tegra X1) dates back to 2015 which makes the Switch's hardware 8 years old as of 2023.

Kind of sad that running the X360 version under emulation (as demonstrated in your video a few weeks back) is leagues ahead of this "port". Good Stuff DF. It's ashame that RDR1 is gonna be a Standard Port, it is most definitely needed on the Switch and on the PlayStation but a PC Port is a must aswell tho. The Price at 50 Bucks is defo Heavy, 25-35 Bucks would have been the Sweet Spot for Newer Comers and Veterans too Pick it Up Day One but if you are a Switch Only Owner or PS4/PS5 Only Owner, then it's a No Brainer this Game is a Must Have Title.

We don't know how they've proceed to port this game, and according to old statement about rdr shitty code, I really believe that there is a trick that make the port really cheap to make but brings many limitations to the potential upgrade, to my mind the real reason that make it not available on pc is the fact that they need to bring mouse and keyboard support and they can't do it without spending a few weeks on it. I'm thinking, if they released it on pc, moders would just use rdr2, to remake rdr1 themselves. Thus shitting on Rockstar's name. However if you release it for ps4 pro, a simple fps toggle is all you need to do, which is nothing. Because if it's set to 4k, then it won't be able to hit a stable 60 on 4 pro. However it will on ps5 without a problem. So a simple toggle, so you can lock it to 30 on 4 pro, and unlock it to 60 on ps5. But knowing them, that's not gonna happen. They would mention it in the trailer.

I dont fully understand how they couldnt produce a version that upgrades to PS5 naturally - doesnt need a remaster, just a visual upgrade to PS5 standards. And I think they should do RDR2 - and perhaps bundle them both. After all we have a PS5 version of GTAV. It makes me wonder if GTAIV can be done next - and will follow a year or so down the road before VI arrives.

While I think the Switch version makes sense, the PS4 version just feels like a lazy cash grab, especially at $50. I don't think it's been confirmed, but current rumours suggest a 30 fps cap on both versions which would suggest the code was written with 30 fps in mind. I personally feel if they're going to charge $50, at minimum you would expect that the code's been updated to support 60 fps. If the rumours turn out to be true and this thing really is a 30 fps rerelease of a PS3 game for $50, people are going to be upset.

It's a shame that there isn't a xbox current gen version for the achievement hunters out there. But this isn't the first time where games that are backward compatible are skipped on xbox for the remake. Max Payne, Star wars Republic commando, jedi academy are a few examples. Missing PC was stupid though

First: Yes they should play through the RDR. Its better than the sequel in many ways. My guess is since the GTA trilogy sold really poorly on PC (because it was a bad product on a launcher store no one wanted to use) that's why RDR isn't getting a pc version this time.

There ain't even a native PS5 version. Tells you how much Rockstar really don't give a single F about their fans. It's purely money and have become extremely egotistical. If GTA 6 fails they will be hugely humbled down and connect with their fanbase since they cut communication for many years

Red dead redemption on ps4 is pro enhanced so it is not just a straight port is has had work done to it. £39.99 in the UK. Not too bad if you are a fan it's a must buy.

To be honest am very excited for RRd 1, played it last on my xbox 360.I can't find a 360 copy for some reason in 2023,Not interested with the digital copy.Ditched Xbox brand after the 360,what a master piece can't wait to play it again😃music to my ears.
