Yes I agree, though technically we do still see Rimmer destroy the time drive. Only Starbug blows up before we get to see the effect destroying the time drive had at the end of this episode. Instead it's vaguely revealed in the next series and then forgotten like it never happened. Another one of Red Dwarf's ongoing gags of 'cheating' the cliffhangers.
