Met this guy at the Toronto Expo. One of the nicest people I've met. Very patient and gracious. Would venture to say that these little guys are that bold because of his calm and reassuring demeanor. Sorry for your loss. And thanks for the inspiration.

@@Reptiliatus - This past weekend. You were at the Exo Terra booth, and I credited you for getting my two kids and I complimentary T-shirts. We then discussed terrariums and Drylok method, and how some plants are "burned", if it's not allowed to cure properly, before planting. We later came back to show you our five black footed, orange poison dart frogs. In either case, it was great meeting you. And my kids are still happy about it. :)

Very sorry for the loss. Caring for animals is so hard because they really are so much more fragile than we are and losing them is tough. You are a great keeper and I hope you get a new baby very soon!

I really like the appearance of the Crocodile Skinks. So remind me a lot of dinosaurs. I am sorry about the baby as I totally understand how you felt. It seems unfair. I have experienced early deaths in the species I have bred over the years and it is disheartening.

As many rewards as one can receive from breeding reptiles, an equal or greater amount of heartbreak often occurs. I am always in awe of your husbandry as well as your emotional connection to your animals. Too many people breed just for the money, but I know that's the only way some people can afford to put the time and expense into taking care of their animals. I always enjoy your videos. Have a great day, D!

While I understand the responsibility of making people aware that the species as a whole is better off not being handled, claiming your animals are an exception is incredibly irresponsible and contradicting. Like you said before, the species tends to seize up when held rather than just jump out like geckos do when they don't want to be held. Lots of other keepers can also claim their animals are "more bold" and under your own words that would mean the countless videos out there of people handling them are not bad at all. Just saying since I see this type of comment not just on this species but a lot of others that go around the exotic pets community, were putting down your fellow keepers for things that is done becomes excused just because you're the speaker.
@Reptiliatus5 жыл бұрын
Zarian Virraizly Sorry, perhaps my word choice was poor. I agree with you 100%. I meant to explain that the exception is that my animals aren’t shy. They come out, tong feed, etc. This species is known for being so shy you almost never see them at all. The footage I shared of me handling them was to make it clear that the last time I held them was while doing a rehouse and only out of necessity. It’s also good proactive to do a “check up” on your animals once in a while and make sure their weight, skin, eyes, etc are looking good. Thanks for sharing your concern. I am not an exception to the standard I am trying to perpetuate.
@zarianvi5 жыл бұрын
@@Reptiliatus I see. I understand, I have a trio of these myself, and they all have different levels of personality. I honestly like that they're becoming more popular as CB exotics display pets, because they're really neat to look at and that means more people share what they've done with their setups. Like tree pythons, and tarantulas I think these fall into "the handle for checkups but keep as display" category. I just see a lot of "do as I say and not as I do" attitude from the pettube/instagram reptile community with a lot of these types of animals, including venomous ones and I just find it annoying cause people are obviously just gonna follow what they see. I like your videos regardless, and your setups are great. It's just a thing that bugs me everytime I hear it. Cheers!
