@ellesreptiles5 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! 😊 one of mine came from a reptile show and one from Craigslist. I would also highly recommended Repticon or morphmarket.com If you have a local exotic animal store nearby (not a chain pet store), that can be a great place to find one as well, because they often buy directly from local breeders. Good luck! They're so cool to have! 😁

Probably, but that part isn't siliconed in, so I could just pop it out and rinse it out in the sink 😊

What did the vet do about her parasites? I have a wild caught tokay gecko that has a vet appointment tomorrow
@ellesreptiles5 жыл бұрын
They test a fecal sample for the parasites (so if you have one, definitely take it in) and they just gave her a tiny amount of a dewormer solution that they put into her mouth. Just a tip: I always took a clean wash cloth with me to wrap around her, sorta like a little reptile burrito. This helps to hold them in place so they're not squirming, and the vet can get the medicine in their mouth easier.

You could definitely put him in a 40 gallon - they won’t come out much, but you could definitely build a beautiful setup :)

It really just depends on what you're looking for. Crested geckos, leopard geckos, and African Fat tails are a few really cool choices. 😊

Beautiful skink, amazing setup! If I had to give any advice is that you don't use analog thermometer/hygrometer since they are extremely inacurate! I recommend the digital ones. Best Lu to you and your gorgeous skink
@ellesreptiles5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! And that's interesting. I would've thought it'd be the other way around. I'll definitely have to order some new (digital) ones, then. Thanks 😊

@@ellesreptiles yrah, I've seen people having their temperatures waaay off because of analog thermometers, even me, when I got my leopard gecko i used the analog ones and there were about 3°- 6°deggres cellcius off, which isn't that bad since leos are pretty Hardie but I've heard that Croc skinks need their temps and Humidity right were its supposed to be.

Awww. Maybe I’ll look into these guys! I mentioned this in a past video but I need help. Basically my ball python is in a 40 gallon with a water bowl, a hide, and aspen substrate. He does get a lot of time out of his tank but I feel like he is super bored. I have gotten two branches for him (one from outside and one from a friend) But my dad won’t let me put it in there bc our local reptile store (that we really trust and I volunteer for) said we don’t need it. And we probably don’t need it but I still feel bad for him. What should I tell my dad? Also we had a red bulb bc our house gets really cold at night but I heard that those can hurt their eyes but my dad won’t switch it out for a ceramic heat emitter bc our local reptile shop said the red bulb would be ok. Any advice? Thank you so much💞💞💞💞
@ellesreptiles5 жыл бұрын
Yes, snakes (and other reptiles) can get bored. Enrichment is incredibly important for reptiles. This includes branches and fake leaves. I've actually already recorded a video all about the importance of enrichment that will be out the Sunday after this coming Sunday. I also would advise against aspen for ball pythons. Ball pythons need a higher humidity (~60%) and aspen bedding tends to mold very easily under these conditions. Otherwise, aspen is usually recommended for dryer species like corn snakes. As for the red light, they were previously thought to be safe, because reptiles can't see red. We now know that they can't see the color red, but instead they just see bright light. So, using a red bulb is essentially just putting a bright light on their tanks. This can really mess up their day/night cycle and cause stress. You are 100% correct about adding a ceramic heat emitter if it's too cold. (Just make sure it's in a dome with a dimmer switch). It sounds like your local reptile store had the right idea, but it's outdated information. Reptile care is constantly changing and evolving for the better, but many people get the care down and then just stop researching. Good luck! ❤️
