I’m just saying that I’m from Iowa and I was born in 1998 and I love the Red Green show. It’s always been really big here in Iowa and I remember watching the PBS festival every year and watching the red green show part and cast members from the show would be in the studio during the pledge. Unfortunately PBS here in Iowa stopped showing the Red Green show, but I’m glad all the episodes are free on KZbin and I got my mom the complete series on dvd as well as the movie for Christmas last year! Keep your stick on the ice!

Pat Mckenna is a true comedy genius. Being able to improvise Harold Green without a script is real talent.
@northernsnow6982 Жыл бұрын
He was playing the character for 8 years, by the time this was done. If you can't think like your character in that amount of time, you shouldn't be acting.

@@northernsnow6982 Some actors depend on scripts. There's no shame in that. Improve means write and perform simultaneously without preparation and minimal guidance from a director, that takes talent.
@northernsnow6982 Жыл бұрын
@@arthurserino2254 gee willickers! Is that how actors known there lines!?! A script!?! Wow!!! Yes I'm aware of scripts, I've done plays and a couple of musicals. Can't go off script with a musical. I've also done lots of improv for cash. It takes a bit of getting used to. One problem some people have, is getting over the fact that they are going to look foolish. One way to help you do that in the beginning, is to draw off of sillier characters you have played in the past.. I also understand getting into character, and how it gets easier with every performance of the same character. After 8 years of doing the same character, if you can't get into character and do a telethon, you need a new career. You probably needed a new career 7 years before that, if you're doing comedy. I couldn't imagine needed a script, just to get into a familiar character. It's like how you would act around your best of best friends, compared to how you'd act around your boss or grandparents(somebody you respect). You've had many years practice, so slipping into each character is easy to do. As soon as you walk in the room, and see those people, the associated character comes out. Which could be totally different from the character you have, around say your teammates if you're on a team, or your significant other if you have one of those.

My local station is WSBE 36 Providence, shown on the board between WQLN and WFYI TV20. They aired RGS on Saturday nights from 1994 until 2011.

I remember this exact telethon from the time I was a kid. Parents dropped us off at the grandparents while they had a bowling league, and Red Green was our favorite show every saturday night.
