Such a Great Track! Perfectly bridges ‘Mother’s Milk’ and ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ :-) P.S. Dear John, Thanks for rejoining the ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’ in 2019 !!!

BSSM is already a masterpiece with its original track listing but ,imo it would’ve been absolutely PERFECT had they included ‘Fela’s Cock’ and ‘Soul to Squeeze’ instead of ‘The greeting song’ and ‘They’re Red Hot’, even though I’ve grown to appreciate those two

Personally the Greeting Song goes hard for me, really the whole second half of BSSM are my favorite pieces by the Peppers.

I used to think that SoulToSqueeze should have been on the BSSM album, but after a few years I realized that it doesn't fit BSSM. It is beyond the pale, unique and difficult to obtain several years ago. I remember a time when it couldn't be found online and the b-side wasn't available in stores.

I was proud buying the Red Hot 'ultra-rare-trax'. I was the chosen one. Since I saw my two flatmates had the same one at the time. After our split I had a 'rare-rare-trax'. My first flatmate had the 'ultra-ultra-rare', and the second one had the 'rare-rare-trax'. We nearly were one on the verge of war.

I think they're terrific. Now it feels like they're being over produced. Never caught them live. Missed their best live stuff probably. These days I just like an artist with a guitar, bass, solo. It's all gotten so complicated.

Unfortunately you've definitely missed their best live stuff. I'd say the best live shows with John Frusciante were around the By the Way tours. Check out Live at Slane Castle, it's a pretty flawless show.

+sidbullet1 Slane castle is the single concert that got me in love with this band. I remember the first time I saw them perform Don't Forget Me (on KZbin, not in person, unfortunately) I was at a loss for words. I remember being angry at myself for taking so long to get into the peppers, and from that moment on I made it a mission to hear every one of their songs. I'm definitely not hating on present day peppers, because they're still quite good. It just sucks that in the back of my head I know they probably aren't going to have a concert that amazing ever again. I missed the boat :(

@@sidbullet1 I disagree with that. Their setlist was hella tame during By the Way because they played too much of that album on those setlists. Sure it's a flawless show but give me the energy from the Californication era any day. From a technical perspective, Stadium Arcadium is John's best. The solos he did at that time were transcendent.

Ojala vuelvan a estos sonidos. Eran excitantes, alegres, divertidos, energeticos.
@criticanatural4567
@criticanatural4567 2 жыл бұрын
Ojalá vuelvan a meter temas picantes. Pero te pregunto, qué banda estuviste escuchando todo este tiempo? Crees de verdad que son una banda de funk? Porque ese ataque "midtempo melanco depre bla bla" es totalmente infundado. Qué pensas de Under the Bridge, Soul to Squeeze, I could have lied, Behind the Sun? Te lo digo también siendo yo crítico de que en cierta medida a nivel compositivo y creativo se quedaron en el By the Way. Me molesta más esa realidad que "lo depre y melanco" que siempre fue parte de las letras. Intentaste traducir Knock me down o Warped?

To my bad ears; they could back off on the drums a bit. This is great but I don't like anyone overpowering the group unless it's a solo or the lead singer.

Chad Smith literally is RHCP. His impeccable drumming is what gives the band their signature sound. Not taking anything away anything from the other band members though, they're an incredibly talented group.
@ecoRfan
@ecoRfan 8 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Zed of course Smith didn't join the group until 1989 alongside Frusciante. Still everything since has been driven by Chad Smith and Flea as they have remained despite changing guitarists like underwear. Anthony and Flea are the only two original members active.
@Johnny_Zed
@Johnny_Zed 8 жыл бұрын
ecoRfan yeah I know lol, but I feel like Rhcp didn't actually become Rhcp until Smith joined. Flea is the constant/icon of the band, Anthony is the intelligible and ever - evolving mouthpiece and Frusciante was like the icing on the cake. All the other guitarists besides Slovak were/are just shittier icing :D

Johnny Zed I kinda agree, I really dig a lot of the hillel/jack sherman stuff though. I actually think.. And I know as a true fan I will get scolded.. That one hot minute is much more the direction that hillel would have taken, he was rocky at times. I liked what Dave briefly bought to the mix, I feel bad that album isn't seen for how good it is
