I'm a die hard Chili Peppers fan and always will be. I've been obsessed with them for over 20 years and I still am. That being said, does anyone else think this concert looks kind of... boring? It just doesn't look or feel the same anymore when it comes to their live shows. Almost looks like the crowd is bored

Steve Beebee of Kerrang! "It's a good record; just not a great one...There are, however, way too many tracks that miss their marks, trying to supplant the old energy with wisdom; the magik with maturity." Sam Sodomsky of Pitchfork " the risk of self-parody with the need to live up to people's nostalgia, knowing they've already written the music they'll be remembered for but still wanting to keep the ride going". Mark Richardson of the Wall Street Journal "features their classic sound but little that's new or exciting". Phil Mongredien of The Guardian "bloated and self-indulgent ... with barely a memorable melody or thought-provoking lyric among its 17 tracks". Ryan Leas of Stereogum "the crime of Unlimited Love, with all its weight within RHCP's narrative and all the excitement some might've felt, is that the bulk of the album is just completely unmemorable" pretty accurate, like most of 80s and 90s bands. Foo Fighters, another example, mediocre after 2011.

@@4ND1Y3P35 i wonder if the majority of people who love this album are still young. It was a let down for me. If you listen to all types of rock and funk and any genre really, then get to Unlimited Love, it feels mediocre. It's a matter of taste, but i just don't see how people are buying it, maybe if your usual listening habits consist of soft rock and modern mainstream pop. It's safe to say i'm confused by it all. i've seen people say the new album is their best yet...i'd love to have the perspective they're listening to it from. I will say that the tracks off it that they've performed so far are better live than the studio versions.

@@alexwells6876 I agree, I think it is very probable that the kids now dig it. Me (close to 40), not really, hard pass. Not even as a music collector and lover. Long ago I stopped collecting for the sake of it. If I really dig it then I buy it. I was never attracted by the war on drugs or bands from that generation until I stumbled upon their 2021 album, great musicians! During the pandemic and in quarantine it was Kurt Vile, a pitchfork show or rehearsal. Amazing!

@@ГражданинПхукет Not sure about i'm with you, it's been a while since i've listen to the whole thing. I prefer The Getaway though, so many good melodies on that album. I was really pleased when it was first announced that John was coming back, but in hindsight i'm so curious what the next album with Josh would have sounded like. He was at least taking the band to new places as their guitarist.

Kiedis tried too hard to be the "cool one". Been a fan since Mother's Milk but now I'd rather go see The War on Drugs, Wimps, Sunflower Bean than this. The last album is mediocre, except for some little moments, maybe a guitar solo or some bass line here and there. If people were honest, they'd admit they go see them for the oldies. That is the only reason I would go if not much effort (travelling, ticket money) was required.

I disagree. Imo this is their best album since Californication. I hear each member giving 100% more so than Stadium , BTW , and def more than IWY or TG. This last album has so many amazing songs. Aquatic mouth dance and it’s only natural imo are two of the greatest songs they’ve ever made .

Lost me on the first line. What the fuck constitutes being "the cool one"? 😂 You rambling old man. At least Tony flows.
