"I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl" is a crazy line

Johnny Frush is playing the saddest, most tortured, most beautiful riffs on this song and on this album too. Hats off to the kid who wasn't sure he really wanted to be a rock star. Of all the great guitar solos in rock history this is one of the greatest. It's almost like it's not a solo it's just the whole vibe from this song flowing thru your soul.

This album came about after the band was at a crossroads in terms of their viability and direction and after guitarist Frusciante came back to the band after a long absence, during which he nearly ended his life due to years of hardcore drug abuse. This song is about psychic and bodily damage, alienation, loneliness, and f-ing up one's life in general, but also surviving and finding a place to survey the damage and start over again (or, at least, that's how I see it). A beautiful song and one that speaks to people who have gone through tough times.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' album 'Californication' in 1999 came off a troubled decade (the 90's) where band members struggled w/ he+++n addiction and guitarist John Frusciante (who left RHCP in 1992) went through a horrible period where he was hooked on the drug after leaving the band... The band hired Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro for their 1995 album 'One hot minute'... but he was out of the band by 1998 after his addictions became a problem... That same year, bassist Flea (and others) finally got John Frusciante into rehab and got him clean from drugs... Then, Frusciante agreed to rejoin RHCP and the band wrote & recorded one of their most successful albums - 'Californication'... A few lyrics on the record were about surviving drug addictions and the chaos that comes w/ them. Anthony Kiedis (vocals) can be rather blunt w/ his lyrics but he does speak very convincingly on a RHCP song like 'Scar tissue'... or 'Otherside'...
@Sevenduece4 ай бұрын
This song is a Phoenix rising from the ashes song... This is dedicated to Anthony's father who he wished he could share his pain with but he'd rather share his pain with the birds... But you hear John and flea singing I will share this, as in we are here for you. The visual is a representation of going through life, trauma, bullshit and surviving it, albeit with some scar tissue to show for it

Their makeup is like a visual version of the title. The utter smoothness of the guitar leads are the highlight for me.

The song and video tell everything the band has been through. Deaths (Hillel Slovak,friend River Phoenix) drug addictions (Kiedis and Frusciante) goodbyes and returns (Frusciante)... band with many scars but always alive. I recommend you read Anthony Kiedis' autobiography Scar Tissue. I love rhcp best band in the world.

"Obviously, I don't listen to the RHCP', well there is your first mistake. Edit: the thing I love about the band, besides the music and energy, is the stream of consciousness kind of lyrics that still speak to every one

It was probably how they felt at that point. John Frusciante the guitarist had departed the band, they had 1 record with Dave Navvaro on guitar, it was not very good, then John came back for this album. John had hit rock bottom and was happy to be back, but they still had a lot of scars to get over. At least how I always took it.

If you want more chad I think you will like “these are the ways”. it’s a song from one of the new albums they dropped after John Frusciante (the guitarist) came back in 2020, the ending is very heavy for a rhcp song and imo it’s thanks to his drums.
