Not a bad attempt by modern band standards, kinda like Pearl Jams cover of Last Kiss..they both sound OK until you listen to the original. Is there a new rule that modern bands who haven't had a hit for a while try and establish some creds by covering famous hits from the '50's? I don't mind it, certainly the recording quality is much better these days, not so convinced about the talent level though.

Well covers depending on who writes them do a good job, red hot chili peppers did a great job at keeping the original beat and feel to the song. so they did a good job overall

saxier1 they put this album together cause they were behind inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame .. and they wanted to make an album of bands that influenced them .. but they used bands that were already in the rock and roll hall of fame .... i don't think they needed to use a cover from a 50s band to "revive" their career ... since they were going into the hall of fame ... 😎 one of the biggest reasons for the Red Hots fame is that they work hard at being themselves ... they got their fame for working hard at the music they love to do .... and not what the fans "need" to hear or want to hear ...
