I love that you are following the Bible and fiving the land it's rest. When I first read Leviticus ot really sounded so random to me until I read an apocryphal book where the dietary restrictions were explained. Then I re-read Leviticus with that in mind. And it all amde sense. Forbidden foods were mostly things that would be high in toxins or contain harmful organisms because of what the animal ate, mostly carrion eaters. Resting the land makes sense because you allow ot to regain nutrients for better yoelds and causes those pesky bugs that lay eggs in your soil only to emerge in spring to begin their destruction of plants. I'm on my third year in this garden bed. I fully plan to give it rest and may not wait till the 7th year. Resting my garden does not mean I take a rest. It means that I have more time in the spring to tramp though my acreage and find the things in the wild God has put there for me to find. I have a few things on my foraging check list I would love to discover. I may even take the time to educate myself about edible wild mushrooms.

I finally tried it and dehydrated my first batch of sliced mushrooms. I ran it fir the shorter time suggested. They needed a little More tune. Checked and they turned out great . Tasted a few. Yum.!‘stored in my mason jars. I will rehydrate s small batch next week to try. Looking forward to making mushroom powder as well, again, thank you. Your demonstrations snd teaching helped me to talk my first steps on this journey. Next: frozen mixed veggies, cabbage, squash.

I started Cherokee purples this year, they are my favorite! I also have 4 (?) tomatoes that I think may be cherry tomatoes that came up in my compost pile, and a tiny little blueberry sized wild Florida tomato. They are a little pop of real tomato flavor. I got a plant from a friend and saved 3 little tomatoes, cut them in half and planted. They grew! lol I got a dozen little plants and shared half with a friend. I was happy to hear about the onion skins because mine usually go in the compost pile. I buy a lot of Videlia onions. God Bless!!
@RainCountryHomestead

I think mine might be Cherokee but not with certainty since they were seeds I save from a mix of organic heirloom tomatoes I had purchased just to try and really liked the flavor of the purple. There was no name given to the individual tomatoes but that was years ago and I have been growing them ever since and they always do great

Heidi, You are amazing! My son loves his garden. He grows quite a number of vegetables which he shares with so many. Things I’d like to do is make spaghetti sauce and freeze it. I would like to note, if you wouldn’t mind sharing with me, how you process your tomatoes? I have seeing where they are processed through a mail attachment to the mixer. Would you kindly share your process with me? Thank you a million times over. I forgot to mention to you, that we live in North Central Florida. So our growing season is very short due to the heat. He grows potatoes of varieties, peppers, onions, cabbage, lettuce, carrots, celery, garlic, acorn, squash, various other squashes, & pumpkin. This year he is venturing into some herbs. It keeps me busy because I’m the one that tries to figure out how to get all this processed so we have it until the next season. I need your help! Maybe you could share with me if there is a way you know of that I could also process potatoes. They are so good. THANK YOU❤️🙏🏻

Great this~n~that video. Ive noticed that content creators that build many informative, useful videos have been bombarded with rude comments/complaining/or bots trying to devalue/debunk info even when its truthful. The part that i dont understand is that the people that are actual beings will watch the video just to critisize or??? I could understand someone asking about something they dobt understand....but i dont understand why people use their valuablebtime and energy just to be malicious/negative. That golden rule :treat people the way you want to be treated, as well as: if you dont got nothing nice to say, dont say it at all!!! Anyways...be blessed, and as always thank you for the valuable info and the energy/time put intondoing so. 😊 Kristine from Michigan.

@@RainCountryHomestead I'm using dehydrated dragonfruit for mine, which is why the color is so strong. I'm going to have to try it with the peels sometime to see how much of a color difference there is. The yellow kind is definitely much sweeter. I hope to grow some this year, of both the pink and white flesh. My mom has a friend who started a tropical garden inside a tarp-greenhouse and has a bunch of dragonfruit growing. I've never saved tomato seed before because I'm allergic. Good to know I've done it the right way. Heidi, may I ask a question? I've already searched through your videos. Do you have thoughts on the raw honey with red onion? Benefits, cautions? I plan to let it sit for a few months before using.

Yes, I know where it is made but even the Nesco and Excalibur that claim to be made in the US have components made in China so good luck finding anything made 100% in the US, especially anything with electronics.
