​@@buttcube6085 The Martian (the movie, the book is amazing) was terrible because they wanted to present it as pseudo-realistic and somewhat plausible in a very near future setting (like in the book), but failed spectacularly at doing so. You can't pick a book that is very "hard science fiction" (AKA very grounded into reality and trying to be at least partially scientifically accurate), keep the plausible sounding tone and half of the plot but replace everything else with random shit you just made up because you think the entire audience is just as dumb as you. That scene were they made him patch up the giant hole in the Hab with a thin transparent plastic tarp and some regular duct-tape (put on the outside) is just straight up insulting the intelligence of the viewer: You don't need physics, just common sense to tell it wouldn't hold for a second. And there are some many more instances of the same happening in that and other similar movies (Gravity, Interstellar, etc.). I prefer a sci-fi movie that doesn't give a shit about realism abd scientific accuracy but says so fron the beginning and never pretends to do otherwise. I'm not quite sure the writers of Red Planet intended the movie to be like that (they where probably trying to do something as the Martian and failed even more spectacularly) but that is the result they got and watching our hero outsmart AMEE after she has kung-fu-ed to hell most of the crew is just fun.

Every action space so far, is a military operation, the vast majority of astronauts have military training, I believe always will be, thanks to NOT learn the universe, whether we are alone or not, if there is alien life and whether or not hostile. AMME was just a "military escort", with combat training. And I believe, as a big fan of robotics that I am, was part of his main function is to remove it makes it even more unnecessary, the only thing we GALLACHER should not have done, was to say that would "kill her" to artificial intelligence is an irreparable crime LOL. But truth is, machines with artificial intelligence, especially with military training, must defend at any cost .... It's what I think.

It's not a bad movie. It's got some really interesting ideas. I actually looked it up today because I saw an article about an LG television that rolls up. It reminded me of the technology presented in this movie.

If they remove military programming before donating the robot to space exploration team, it should be fine. The entirety of problem here lied in that AMEE's combat programs were *not* removed, and the damage to control system perma-locked her in military mode with self-defense as a highest priority. Before astronauts started talking about disassembling her for power supply, she, even in the military mode, didn't plan for killing them.

Тут вся проблема была в том, что у ЭЙМИ - изначально военного робота, пожертвованного вооружёнными силами в пользу космической программы - боевое программирование так и не убрали, а повреждение системы управления вновь переключило её в боевой режим с самозащитой превыше всего. Пока астронавты не начали говорить о разборке ЭЙМИ ради источника энергии, она вообще не планировала их убивать.
