Most Rotala plants have red variants and are easy to care for while most Alternanthera plants have red and purple variants and are difficult to care for.

Hello. Beautiful tanks, one of the bests i've ever seen! I have a question, sorry, I know it is an older video... Is the first plant rotala rotundifolia red or rotala walchii? I've been trying to purchase this plant and usually rotala rotundifolia red has thicker leaves... I really don't know, that's why I'm asking. The plants that I've found as rotala rotundifolia (different from sp. green) had all leaves more like bacopa caroliniana. So I just cannot find plants that look like these. Thank you.

Thank you for your nice comment, I used 1 watt per "Liter" distance for 30*30*30 nano 35 cm and every day I used Tropica premium fertiliser approximately 1.5 ml for nano cube and 5 ml for my 60 cm (60x35x40 diameter) tank.

webwatcher555 I dont think Tropica premium fertiliser is contains phosphate but in Rotala macrandra tank I used Premium + Specialised Fertiliser and Specialised Fertiliser contains phosphorus(P), Also after water changes adding seachem iron really helpful for red plants. Substrate I used ADA Amazonia II but I think it is discontinued!

I bought some Alternanthera Reineckii "Mini" this week for my new setup - 260L and started EI Dosing (am reaching end of 1st week)- really hope I can get it looking as lush as yours, do I need to add extras Iron if I am Macro and Micro dosing ? Am also trying to carpet with dwarf hairgrass - any advice would be much appreciated ! Really enjoy watching your videos keep up the great work !

I always add some extra iron after each water change! Enough penetrated light + co2 + fertilizer + periodic water changes are the key for both of them ;) ( Alternanthera Reineckii "Mini" and Hair Grass)

I just can’t seem to grow stem plants. After a few days leaves will have pinhole and start to drop. If not leaves will grow smaller and smaller..some like burnt and dried out:( Only managed to grow carpet plants such as MC

Hard to say something Amount of fertilizer without seeing your plants density and their condition and also your fish population.. its your lighting. You need strong high PAR lighting to get red plants 99% of the time.

Also, if your not running CO2 you will never get the lush growth out of rotala, it will always be wispy and lanky between nodes. make some DIY co2 and you will be impressed for not much money or risk
