Red Rock was a calm, even sweet animal. He love attention. He belonged to Growney Brothers Rodeo Company out of Red Bluff, CA. They used to set up a panel pen at the Fair so kids could pet him. Lane was amazing as well. He rode Red Rock at an Exhibition for the full 8 Seconds just days before he was killed.

Can never forget this song dedicated to Lane. Rode bulls in IPRA and PRCA from 1993-1999...you had to pay your dues. This song still gives me chills, even today. Lane was a one in a million contestant. Heart of gold. May he never be forgotten. Old fact, in the movie with Travolta, Urban Cowboy, the three cowboys sitting on the fence were Lane Frost, Tuff Hedeman, and Cody Lambert.

I LOVE THE SONG, to bad he died though it's a sad song and I cry :( and btw red rock is cut as a baby and did you know that he is really gentle ppl use to get on his back for photos ( kids ) but in bull riding there hurting the bull somehow I know that but red rock was a orphan and raised by the family milk cow and I have a feeling they bottle fed him some so that's part of the reason why he is sooo gentle look up for some more info I don't know all of it only a little bit XD
@aaliyahtremper8708 жыл бұрын
The Warrior at club the song states he was gentle in the pin but a Bucking machine in the chuted
@soozzelda7 жыл бұрын
what do you mean by cut? And bucking bulls aren't hurt during bull riding - they are tried out as bulls who might buck when they are young... if a bull doesn't have the natural ability, they won't buck - they cost a lot because they are special... and rodeo livestock is very well treated because rodeo stock contractors depend on them feeling good and healthy because it's their business - the way they make a living!!! I was Red Rock's PR person - I knew him really well. He was raised on the family milk cow so he was very used to people being around - I took a lot of photos with him and kids and adults - I took one photo of him with an entire 3rd grade class in the pen with him - it's like a Where's Waldo picture.

Amended Comment: Nobody successfully covered Red Rock in 309 attempts during his career. In 1987, Red Rock was the PRCA's bucking bull of the year, and Lane was the World Champion Bull Rider. After 309 times out, Red Rock was retired. Shortly after his retirement, Growny Bros. Rodeo Company brought him back for a best of 7 series of exhibition rides at 7 different rodeos throughout California, Oregon, and Utah. In that series, Lane covered (rode him for 8 seconds) Red Rock 4 times. Lane passed in 1989.

It is TRUE that Lane was the only cowboy to ride Red Rock. However, what few people know is that one of his travelling partners, Cody Lambert, figured out the trick to staying on Red Rock and rode him to the buzzer. Red Rock was a smart bull and had figured out that however the rider was sitting on him, left or right of his spine, he would come out of the chute spinning in the opposite direction. Cody tried a little trick, while taking his wrap he was sitting on Red Rock then stood up off of the bull's back seconds before calling for his gate confusing Red Rock, since no one had done that to him before . As the gate swung open, that is when Cody dropped onto Red Rock's back and set his feet. Confused, Red Rock jumped straight out into the arena instead of spinning right there in front of the chute. About half way through the ride, Cody's weight shifted to one side and that is when Red Rock started spinning.....to the opposite of where Cody was sitting. I found this out several years ago when a guy I traveled the rodeo circuits with ran into Cody at a PBR show and was asking about Red rock.
