I think "Stay, stay, stay" is not about anyone, it's actually a song Taylor wrote about the relationship she wished she was in. So it's a happy song but with a sad background if you think about it

I know the ending of the non-vault part of the album seemed strange! Actually the standard edition ends with Begin Again and songs from The Moment I Knew to State of Grace (Acoustic) were bonus tracks on the deluxe edition. Ronan was released during the Red era but was never on the actual album. Hope this explains the chaotic closing!

I feel like this is important to know about the album. The original bonus tracks are scattered in between the 16 original tracks of Red in terms of timeline, and Come Back, Be Here is actually strongly believed to be about a third guy from the 2-2,5 year timeline of the Red album songs. In fact, Holy Ground, Everything has Changed, Begin Again and Come Back, Be Here are believed to be about other people than the main person inspiring this album. Starlight is a literal fanfic about Bobby and Ethel Kennedy Taylor wrote after reading a biography about the Kennedy's. Stay Stay Stay is as someone else pointed out - just a fantasy.

Taylor was working with Max Martin and Shellback on a song when a friend of Gyllenhaal went to visit her because there were rumors they were together again. And Taylor ran him out "We are never getting back together". And Martin and Shellback were like "What's going on? Tell more about it" and thus "We are never ever getting back together" was born. The song they were working on? Now we know it was "Message in a Bottle"

red has always been chaotic and it was meant to be that way. happy, confused and lonely according to taylor. but…i gotta let you know ronan is not the last song on the standard 😂 the order is state of grace to begin again for standard edition, the moment i knew to state of grace (acoustic) for the bonus tracks and ronan was a separate one (she did this song for stand up to cancer event during red era) but it needs a home so taylor included it on red tv. i was laughing so hard we you got confused at the end. 😂 love you and your reactions, brad!

"it needs a home" It feels as if it was a lonely orphan… But it makes sense, she's trying to reclaim her back catalogue, and leaving a whole single out is a disservice to fans everywhere. I wonder what she'll do with the more obscure material that was never on an album. I know she had two EPs that contained some tracks unreleased elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see what she decides to do with those, if she's allowed to at all.

YEEES I agree 100% with you about The Moment I Knew, I’ve been talking about this song since it was released in 2012 CAUSE SHE’S FUCKING BEAUTIFUL AND SAD AND GORGEOUS and I feel doesn’t get the recognition it deserves! The Moment I Knew and All Too Well are my two top favorites in this album, oh and they complement each other cause the subject in TMIK is that Jake Gyllenhaal didn’t show up at Taylor’s birthday party and then in All Too Well 10 Minute Version she talks about that too.

Most of the album is for Jake Gyllenhaal, but Begin Again is indeed not about him, but Conor Kennedy (Everything Has Changed is also about him). Holy Ground is about Joe Jonas, while Girl At Home is about Zac Efron (who was in a relationship with Lily Collins at the time). This album isn't sonically or emotionally cohesive AT ALL but that makes it so special to me. Going from one fucking depressing song to a total bop is a mood. Dude, you get to hung up in the track order! Very few artists ever order in the "chronological order of events". And you need to do your research lol The original album was 16 tracks ending in Begin Again, the she added more to the deluxe version and she's putin gnow on albums tracks that she did outside the albums. Even so it still is all over the place. Taylor said in her instagram "Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators." . Before folklore and evermore Red was considered her best album - ironic that it won no grammy. Because it really is amazing. All songs are beyond great. how do you pick one to talk over the others? you don't. that's why the singles played ad nauseum on the radio were the ones that stayed in the limelight. Dude, this production on this Taylor's Version is immaculate. It is on the league of folklore and evermore. Like for me they're all on the top spot of taylor's discography having a threeway,.
