@Chris-c5f2q2 ай бұрын
I would not wear them on the pavement because that's what I did, and I wore the soles flat in about a month and a half. The thorogood soles are a lot tougher and they actually have a shank, these however use leather insoles I guess you could call them as compared to fiberboard with the thorogoods.

Before watching this video, a word about Gore Tex and all of those "Breathable" fabrics in general. Gore Tex is EITHER waterproof OR it's breathable. It is physically impossible for it to breathe when it's wet. Once it's wet on the outside, it cannot breathe because of that moisture coating and blocking the pores. Gore Tex is such a well known name brand, they charge a large hit, sometimes 15% of the selling price of a garment as Gore Tex commission for the label. Testers on KZbin have tested multiple brands of the membranes, and Gore Tex came out mid-field compared to other membranes on sports products and clothing. Best in the world currently is made by Alpinestars out of Italy, for their motorcycle apparel lines.

@jasongaudreau20752 ай бұрын
I’ve actually watched gore-Tex being produced and you are correct. It should be marketed as “extremely water RESISTANT”. I personally wear gore-Tex lined boots however. But some work is involved. Gore is a 5-7 mil poly film produced in 5-6’ wide sheets and stored in reel “roll” form. As it goes down the mil test line, it gets perforated. When formed into a bootie the perforations point outwards away from the body, like tiny volcanoes on the outside of the fabric. This allows moisture to be pulled from the feet, while limiting moisture to enter into the tip of the volcanoes. But, after an amount of time being saturated , it will hit a pressure state where sweat out and moisture in hit an even pressure and moisture enters. To solve this issue, wear boots that have a thick, durable leather exterior and treat that leather with sno-seal. It’s bees wax seals the outer leather itself (while having an open grain on the inside allowing the gore to “breathe” , while rolling water off the leather, never allowing the leather to absorb moisture and get to the point of saturation which is when the gore will reach that osmotic pressure point. And it keeps the exterior leather flexible and pliable which increases the durability and overall lifespan of the leather. Gore lost its patent years ago and that’s why we see so many “knock off” products such as “chippatex” being introduced. Yes, it is the same exact product as gore. But no, it doesn’t get the attentive qc that gore demands in its contracts, and no, the companies using it do not have to turn in product for gore qc secondary testing and approval. So, gore themselves turn in a better product overall. And, if used in conjunction with a well made/well owner treated outer leather, and good socks that absorb moisture themselves before testing the limits of osmotic pressures between the gore and saturated leather, for 99% of its life will be basically “waterproof” in many users terms. Such as sitting in a tree stand in constant heavy rain. Or snow, or the real test….mud and melting frost earth in spring, where your feet are on a literal “sponge” and the pressure of your own weight causes puddling around your feet. In most of the situations, your other clothing will fail before a well treated pair of actual gore-Tex lined boots. But again, you are correct. Only material that is truly water proof is rubber. Which holds in sweat and water just as good as it holds it out. That’s the only way a person will experience true water proof. And that experience sucks as your feet will be saturated with sweat and eventually get cold in the weather.

I’ve had a pair of these for over 2 years now and they have been amazing. I’ve resoled them with Vibram Wedge sole as it’s more durable. I wear them several times a week. I have been hiking in them in really arid rocky conditions, as well as using them to cycle everyday to work! They have held up amazingly well. The inner lining is still intact, despite heavy wear. The leather is soft, but tough. Really comfortable boot and don’t need to worry about breaking them in.
@ronleibfreid51902 ай бұрын
I have owned these boots since they were released 2 years ago. Super comfortable and they are basically still new. Holding up super well. The leather has a red dog sorta color - perhaps fading a bit over time. Also seem to wear lighter at wear spots like red dog. I also really like the look of no stitching for the heel counter. I find that visually appealing and an interesting cue that this is a special boot.

I really didn’t like the red color at first, but now they have turned a lot darker, so they look a lot better. I had them resoled last year. Only thing is, it took 3 months to get them resoled from Redwing, and the stitching was too close to the edge, and the stitching is already breaking. I didn’t say anything when I picked them up, because I need them for work, and I didn’t want to wait another 3 months.

They have been marketed and believed to be the best of the best of the air Jordan’s. I’ve got a pair of air Jordan 4 A Ma’s and they are made of some sort of suede. But on the inside they seem to have a genuine leather lining to the TOE. And the suede on them looks extremely hairy, but the grain pattern is very hard to find by me. They seem to be premium. I feel like we need to know if these A Ma shoes are really that premium and really worth that premium price.
