Im so jealous of you guys you have no damn idea. We even have great players we could have built around like the Red Wings did but instead we jumped the gun and basically wasted a good bit of Petey, Hughes and Demkos prime years. Wish the team good luck this year cant wait to see the Yzerplan progress further🤙

Stevie is our Achillies! He is our Superhero who got us to the promised land years ago and he can and will do it again IMHO. I'm sure that there are still plenty of old time Red Wings fans around that still remember what "the Captain" did back then for our team back then (and he will always be our Capatin. Unlike any other VP/ GM he has a longer rope than anybody else In this area will ever have in managing/coaching and of the major sports teams. Yeah, we absolutely trush in him. He will get it done! Lastly for this preseason, I'd like to see him sign Tomas Tatar. He had 20 goals with the Devils, played on every line and I think he had 58 points over all. He's not difficult to fit under the cap either, we will have injuries and he can us help develope these dids this kids with their overall two-way games and their backchecking to say the very least. We'll see what happens but I suspect it might be the final piece of the Puzzle to this years squad.

No he 's not. Don't get too carried away now. Stick to players who you've actually seen play ML sports. Using the "ever" word is always dangerous, especially if you're not a sports historian. One name readily come to mind and easily tops everybody else in Detroit's sports history, the lengendary Ty Cobb. Maybe Stevie can land the number #2 spot :) After a quick glance at the Tiger's roster back in 1915 there were some other excellent baseball players back then that have their names on the wall at Comerica Park too the was in C the the ended up the HOF too.

@@karlheinzvonkroemann2217 arguably true yes but study would have to be done judging cobbs popularity being based on media portrayal as he never brought the city a championship. He never won it all like yzerman did, multiple times. As much as i like the nostalgic baseball documentaries made in the 90s it may be that yzerman is the more iconic hero.

I don’t see anyone comment on the fact that Detroit ) Michigan has the best youth hockey in the United States the only state compared somewhat to our hockey nation up there. That being said I had the privilege to play midget major a a few tier one select teams and I remember sometirms after a shift like man I want to get back out there the passion is there the talent is insane- you have about 10-12’AAA teams normally more and more so with the little Caesars compuware, honey baked belle tire Oakland , west Michigan’s team , few teams in Up soo , that being said each year so many of those kids are making to the NHL and at worst can still play and make a living doing it - tell me how is it to have such talent right here in your own back yard . Larks comes to mind but mqny made it , also even if these kids don’t go pro hockey allot got a d 1 or 2 scholarship or found their way in hockey in other ways , I’ve coached a few teams had allot fun but never got tot coach the talent that’s there , thanks Stevie ( basically what ya think about the Aaa kids u14 to u18 in particular

Would be entertaining to see some dangles ala Datsyuk in Detroit once again. 1 year contract with performance bonuses as Kanes coming off surgery IMO. Kane likely wants to play with the cat again so maybe he’s willing to prove it with a friendly contract. That said, Stevie knows best, so whatever he decides I am 100% behind… Go Wings!!

No disrespect to Stevie Y, but I think he’s built a pretty mediocre team, especially with the additions this off season. They never drafted that elite talent, maybe outside Seider. The other thing too is, a lot of the division got a lot better and will be tougher to play against.
@Jim-yh5uj
@Jim-yh5uj 9 ай бұрын
Yep. This team is not set up to win long-term. Given the strength of the division, they would be better off to keep rebuilding and trying to draft top talent.
@muttonmark
@muttonmark 9 ай бұрын
Hey, someone realizes the importance of winning the Draft Lottery. Mediocre or not, he is building this team with patience and hardline strategy. When you don't get the lottery picks, then the team has to be made by trades and smart drafts. Rarely will elite players become available via Free Agency. Detroit is not currently a desired location for players like it was in the 90's and 00's, even for sub-elite players. Just wait, this team will incrementally get better while our picks mature, making this organization a desired location for Free Agents again. It's going to happen. Fans really need to grasp to their patience.
@Jim-yh5uj
@Jim-yh5uj 9 ай бұрын
Historically, teams that win and win a lot have top-end talent that's selected high in the draft. They'll have better luck trying to take for the 1st overall pick than trying to land superstars in the later rounds.@@muttonmark
@nathanlewis16
@nathanlewis16 9 ай бұрын
@@muttonmark For sure. They’ve drafted in the top 10 the last 7 years. I don’t think they’ve drafted as well as they could have considering. Stevie Y has been there for a bit now. I just think they should be taking some steps forward by now. The last 2 years, he’s made quite a few bad signings which i think hurts them long term. This division is tough and I don’t seem them finishing better than 6/7.
