Awesome!👍 You are putting the DO in DIY. I think it's cool that you are backing up and showing all of the prep work and other stuff you haven't previously shown. People are more capable than they realize if they read, study and prepare ahead of time. Our ancestors did what they, when they could, with the resource's they had and could afford. Most now days want instantaneous gratification, but it's just not the same as doing it yourself. They've lived with their parents and desire everything it took their parents 30-40 years to achieve. Great job Red!👏

I had no idea the septic system needed to be so exact, wow! I was hoping that all the monsoon storms we had hadn’t washed your house footers out. We had inches of rain each storm here in Phoenix. Im glad to see you all back!
@RedandAprilOff-Grid3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm sure some contractors aren't as careful as others. It was an exciting monsoon season for sure. Thankfully everything is up high enough that the water went around it. At one point, we got 4.5 inches in 8 days! Thanks! 😊

Installing 2 of these right now. Good tip on cutting the angle on the inlet pipe, that's a tight squeeze! I'm actually wondering if you ended up having to glue the inlet pipe into the inside down pipe?

How far from the house is the tank ? Maybe I missed that part.
@RedandAprilOff-Grid Жыл бұрын
I believe it has to be at least 10 feet away from the house. Ours is more than that.

Did you put a filter on the "inlet side"? If so, Why?
@RedandAprilOff-Grid2 жыл бұрын
A filter came with it, but he didn't use it.
@canufi6my2 жыл бұрын
@@RedandAprilOff-Grid Okay, the filter goes on the outlet end of the tank to supposedly keep chunks out of the leach field. The baffles on each end are identical and will accept a filter. I don't use the filter either.

Does the government allow this? I have 1 acre with a failed perc test
@RedandAprilOff-Grid3 жыл бұрын
We are in an area that is zoned RU4 (rural and at least 4 acres). This zoning is required for the type of permits we have. Different counties have different requirements. The results from our perc test said we had to have 100 feet of leach field, and a 1000 gallon tank. We had 2 inspections and a leak test. Bummer that your property failed the perc test! Maybe there is something you could do, bring in a bunch of sand or something.
@rhb300013 жыл бұрын
@@RedandAprilOff-Grid maybe I can just park my RV on the land and plant crops… I could find out by contacting the county correct?
@RedandAprilOff-Grid3 жыл бұрын
In not sure. It seems like whoever did your perc test should know something about it, or they would know who to ask. Our son's perc test said he needs 275 feet of leach field, and a 1200 gallon tank for a 1 bedroom house! The quote he got to have it done was $13,000!

@rhb300012 жыл бұрын
@@sunstirade1085 yeah as long as you can just back up your truck and move it the RV is classified as a motor vehicle..just don’t make it where you can’t move it out immediately and you are fine

We did, but due to some issues out here, we deleted it. We thought the channel could possibly be contributing to the problems we were having, and we had to put everything on hold for awhile. Now that things have settled down, we decided to start a new channel focused on the house build. 🏠

I know this was 2021 and Bidenflation has it hard since then, but where did you find this tank for $1200? I've seen it priced at $1800+ and the Norwesco equivalent is over $2000. I'd love to find one at the price you paid!
