I remember having trouble with our history when I was in grade school. I asked my teacher why we said that Columbus discovered America when people already lived here. She said that the people in Europe didn't know it was here. I told her that the Indians knew it was here, because they lived here. Then the people from Europe came and said that they discovered it because they hadn't seen it before. I asked my teacher something along the lines of, "If I haven't seen somebody's house before, is it ok for me to say that I discovered it and take it away from them?" She didn't know what to say.

This should of never been banned from the radio, truth hurts but this is an important event in history, and shouldn't be hidden just because it proves how terrible people can be when they think they're superior to others simply because they don't understand those other groups of people.
@trerolandscreations59896 жыл бұрын
Why ban this from radio? Redbone were being really open about what REALLY HAPPENED at Wounded Knee. Many Native Americans lost their lives during that fateful event. Broadcasters should've thought twice before they made their decision to ban it. These guys were pouring out their feelings about it!

Obviously they didn't wanna get in trouble for letting the public know about true events. It's easier to control ignorant people than it is to control informed people. Many people still think that Indigenous people were fully wiped out of the US, or that these massacres weren't real.

There's your answer....but they laid this track down and here it still is. And they are dead right that we were all wounded by that (and our many other sins). That stuff impacts the soul of a nation. We have to grapple with it.

They still treat you like shit,pardon my words. I've watched a documentary made on the Pine Ridge Rez, and it was heartbreaking to hear an older lady say, how they live up there,how they get treated and what Government and others,do with their income.So disgraceful. And as she was crying, the tears ran down my face as well and felt like if I lived only closer, I'd put my arms around that lady. Anyway, THANK YOU,bearone7777, for your answer. I grew up listening to Redbone, They were great then and are great now. Our Federal Government should be ashamed of the past and present treatment of the only true Americans. They spoke of life and their history. How is that different then other groups of singers who sing about political subjects? They did not change their names to say look at me, I am now someone else due to my religion IE Cat Stevens is no longer that person, he became a muslin and changed his name. I am proud of being a fan
