Junk servos have been a known issue for a while, and manufacturers still use them. In the US, I paid $860 for my Vigilante. Adding in the $80 for the cnc gears, I'd be at $940. Still $60 cheaper than what the Arrma 8s trucks usually run. I personally haven't had any diff issues since getting the truck back in April. Also haven't had any issues with the two piece chassis. It's a solid truck that, like any other truck, will need upgrades if you plan to abuse it. I had an Outcast 8s exb when I got my Vigilante. The O8s was fun, just found myself having more fun with the Vigilante, so I ended up selling my Outcast. Had a Mojave 6s that was converted to 8s, as well as a 6s Kraton exb. Sold all 3 of my Arrmas because they were just sitting on the shelf. The Vigilante felt like it did everything I wanted it to do better. I also came to the realization that I prefer trucks without a spoiler too.

As one of the 1st youtubers with this truck only thing you have to donis tune the diffs. As I have experience with the xmaxx all of the metal on there is monkey metal. Best trucks out the box by far is arrma. But monkey metal is used in alot of these rtr s. The diff gears are worth doing if you're tuning diffs for sure but not a must do. The car come with a max6 with a 1250kv motor..change the pinion gear to 23t and adjust the punch on esc and she is a beast. Everything else is bs to me. I am a proponent of run it before you upgrade. 90% of the rtrs i buy get posted with a first run impressions before I upgrade anything. This truck was in all the yputubers top 10 for 2024 vids for a reason. I hope you enjoy the truck.

Every time I see this I think. "Now that's a nice looking truck". Feel we are missing out not having them in the UK. The blue and old style body are really brought together by the silver alloy looking rims.

Damn, got mine on initial release. Damn fine truck for a V.1 only real design issue are its smallish battery trays. I am an arrma fan boy and have at least one of everything 1/8 and up. Outcast is an absolute beast but can never compete in big air bashing because of weight. Can't stand Traxxas, but Xmaxx is still big bas king. The Redcat has a chance to take that from Traxxas in the future upgrades.

M2c racing has came out with new battery trays and a peace that goes under the middle body support so that peace that stops u from putting bigger battery's in it lifts that peace up

I bought my Vigilante while Redcat was debuting it on the live stream. I've got all the big trucks from the big companies. I agree the Outcast is king but the Vigilante is a close second. With the right aftermarket upgrades it gets closer. Now that Redcat sells machined gears for all 3 diffs for $80 it's still the cheapest even after adding the gears. I've only put batteries in my Xmaxx 1 time since getting the Vigilante and that was just to prove to my buddy how the Vigilante was better in every way than my Xmaxx by letting him drive them back to back. It really is everything i wanted my Xmaxx to be.

Blue groove modelsports makes a piece that goes under the center brace to raise it up it works great and I am not sponsored but I have not blown a gear in mine people dont know what they are doing land with too much power or wheel speed after earplugging the center diff then are shocked it broke I went up to 1 million in the center and it will wheelie and drives great and gives me the protection a center diff offers

Yep. And it's been that way since day one. Traxxass also sells the upgraded gears but nobody has ever said they should give them away and it cost a lot more than the Redcat. Buy the $80 gears from Redcat and you're still notably less than Xmaxx prices.

Hi Jason!Love all your stuff man!Greetings from Moncton N.B.Been in the hobby since 1989 bashing and racing and still am after retireing last year.I bought a Vigilante when it was released.So far the center diff casing melted after i kind of locked it with silicone ear plugs for a test.Otherwise it held up well.Had a conversation with redcat about the battery issue,i will not talk about their answer lol!When you test drive it i am curious if you will get the impression that it sits between an x-maxx and an xrt.Very plush suspension with long travel like the x-maxx but the handling stability feel of the xrt...It suited me so well that my wide x-maxx and my xrt are gone.Must say i love the truck.I try as much as possible to keep only one vehicle per category of rc,otherwise i would have 100 instead of 20...Cheers!Looking forward to you running review.

Whats up Jay, just watched the video and wanted to point out to you to help you out a bit with your battery fitment issues with the center bracing getting in the way of taller batt packs, m2c makes an upgrade for this to solve that problem. Be well and enjoy it. Im still tossing it up which 1/5th scale I'm gonna buy but until I do pull the trigger I built and 8s kraton xl with the fireteam e brake and a spektrum 8s system.

Noo not the Scx6's, love the bigger scale rigs. Smaller stuff would have gone for me before the big stuff. Vigilante is a nice looking truck and about 300 less then an xmaxx here in Canada. Would love to see a comparison video on this compared to your xmaxx after your run with the redcat.

I use 3m protective clear film around body post roof front and rear and you can replace it after each bash and body stays new pretty cool

I agree the machined gears should have been installed from Redcat..then we could upgrade the rear carriers and front knuckles/carriers if we wanted....They obviously know they have an issue with gears!!! Im not a Redcat fan but you do great videos so will definitely be watching!!! 👍👍

I have the Red cat conju, the 6s one I love it. I also have the Traxxas xmaxx Arrma kraton 4s and Arrma outcast 8s exb. Redcat makes good cars at that price point . I've built Tamiya frog, Boomerang 4wd . RC10 Graphite. The Redcat vehicles are well built.

All it needs is out of the box as far for bashing is cnc upgrade from Redcat and Vitavon center diff I bought all three. For front and rear but doesn’t need it so far 23 tooth piñon I am also buying the m2c battery tray and maybe the motor mount

The Outcast as much as I love it isn’t a monster truck, it’s a truggy with a truck body. The Vigialne is an actual monster truck like the X Maxx which is why I found it so appealing. Finally something to compete with the X Maxx. The Vigilante is amazing because it drives like the Kraton but looks like an actual monster truck. It is however a giant disappointment because of durability and the lack of the ability to take power. Every outing, it’s going to break one of the upper arms, every time. The other thing is the diffs and the center gearing. First I didn’t the Max 5 with the Castle 1721 which is the X Maxx motor in a longer can, figuring i could hear it higher for speed with running a bunch of torque through it with a bigger can. Then I did all the diffs with the upgrades that Vitavon had out at the time, which was just upgraded ring and pinion. Then went to a big block and it still shattered everything. Looking to do the next teardown, now with the new upgraded RedCat gears they just released along with the Vitavon stuff and we will see how it holds up. Vitavon is supposed to be releasing spider gears for diff internals and diff cups soon. I am begging for a rear bulkhead because there is just too much flex in the chassis for gears to survive

Stick with upgraded RedCat CNC diff gears. The Vitavon gears are Helical cut and will destroy themselves. RedCat never designed the bulkhead for that cut, esp with the floating pinion. I saw a video about it.

Actually in the market for a 1/5th scale the outcast 8s is on sale for $850 and the Vigilante has been raised to 859$. Hard to pull the trigger on the redcat without them resolving issues

I beat the snot out of mine with a 23 tooth pinion and the center diff packed full of 20 mill until I riped the front end off the truck it's plenty durable for me

I used to feel the same way as you. When they first came out, I wasn't interested at all. But now... Wow, I'm really tempted to get one, especially with the upgrades, since they’ll definitely be needed. I appreciate your video! By the way, I represent a good portion of the folks in America (or as our Canadian friends say, the ‘lower states’). I want to apologize for the current political climate we’re experiencing with our neighbors to the north.
