One-offs with "bad foods" don't matter, eating patterns are what matter. If you're diet is mostly on point, you really don't need to worry about the pizza slices and cookies.

Love the philosophy Matt, influence matters alot more than taking things to the extreme. Thanks for the support and philosophy you're sharing over here on this platform. Helping alot of people my friend.

Nice touch there Matt! But seriously, point well taken. I have to realize having a cookie or slice of pizza or even 2 lol is not a big deal and an excuse to totally go off the rails because of the guilt. Thank you

It's called the what-the-hell effect in the book "Willpower", by Baumeister and Tierney. When you break part of your daily discipline, especially in dieting, you basically say to yourself "well, I might as well give up and just enjoy the rest of the day". To maintain your willpower it's important to learn not to fall into this trap.

I sometimes wonder if that mindset is only a small-ish hint at a deeper underlying issue.

I never decide between an apple and a cookie. I eat both, and then reach for my cookie bag and 2 more apples to dessert the dessert.

You must think in terms of Food Intolerance. Some people break out, rash up and get cracked by eating even 1 junk cookie, including hair loss.

That's a very different subject. For sure, avoid peanuts if you have a peanut allergy, but aside from cases like that it's no big deal.

@@RedDeltaProject eh heyyy. Allergies and food intolerances are 2 very different. In any case, HIRT workouts combat junk so so

Hey Matt, There is a lot of information out there on how to prevent going off the rails, but what should you do if you do go off the rails. How do you get back on track without feeling so guilty?
@RedDeltaProject
@RedDeltaProject 2 жыл бұрын
Two things; 1) Don't beat yourself up about it and just continue with the habits you have. Don't get too hung up on trying to "undo the damage" by compensating with extreme habits. 2) learn why you went off the rails and change your approach. It's almost never due to a lack of willpower or weakness but a flaw in your plan..

I enjoyed that and rang true for me. Random question, which resistance bands do you recommend?
@RedDeltaProject
@RedDeltaProject 2 жыл бұрын
Any bands work well, but I recommend getting the standard loop style rather than the ones with the handles on them. They tend to be tougher and offer more resistance. You can then attach handles and such on them
