During the winter months, we get a lot of rain, much like what you see up in the Pacwest. We're at the southern end of the Cascades, and the northern end of the Central Valley, so the weather's a bit of both, especially if you go into the mountains. I'm kinda thinking this was shot somewhere during January/February by the look of it. Not the time I would have taken the video - I would have waiter for Spring (April/May) or Fall (October/November), as those are our best seasons. But yeah, our winters are gloomy like what you see in Seattle, and our summers are almost as hot as what you see down in Phoenix.

Very much enjoyed this video. I have loved Redding since I discovered in when I was 12 years old. I used to go to the grocery store with my mom and there was a "free" real estate magazine there called "Redding Homes" and I used to collect them and look at the pictures and houses. When I was 18 I started travelling to Redding and exploring the area. I would usually visit 3 or 4 times a year. Much like this drive, I did these same roads with the exception of the newly opened Market Street. I always said to myself that Redding has something special and had so much potential. I am now 43 and much of what I envisioned for the city when I was 18 has come to life. I am actually moving to Redding this year just after my 44th birthday. I saved this video so I can watch it a few dozen times between now and then. Thanks for making it and I am sorry to the viewer who used to live there and did not like it. Maybe he didn't know what he actually had. Redding is a gem!

That was a wonderful drive around Redding! I grew up there, but moved to Sacramento when I got married. I've been gone 30 years and I was amazed to see the downtown mall GONE! What I miss the most about Redding is the versatility the area has to offer. Sacramento River, Whiskeytown Lake, Shasta Lake, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Lassen, and the list goes on and on. I used to think living in a bigger city would make my entertainment options increase, but I was wrong. I miss Redding. Thanks for the drive, Mr. Owen!

I’m glad you liked it. I don’t share your impression of the town. I graduated from Enterprise High and Shasta College. Then I was stationed in Riyadh KSA for the Gulf War. The similarities between that city and Redding were remarkable. Both towns were highly intolerant of any person who did not belong to the dominant religion. Ok the Persian Gulf it was Islam. In Redding it was whatever the church is on Hilltop. Unless it’s changed drastically in the last few years, it’s the famous “nowheresville” you’ve heard about. If you like the place you’ll be happy to know that you will NEVER see me there.

WOW this video is bringing back a lot of memories and mixed emotions. I no longe. r live in redding (dirty 530), but grew up there from 97-2014. All my trauma and bad events come from there, and yet there was a lot of good too. Redding was an interesting place whether you loved or hated it (sometimes simultaneously) My best friend still lives there and I'm tempted to move back as she has a room for rent. But every time I visit something bad happens or I just feel awful. It's quite a complex feeling. I miss the lakes though.

Lived in Redding (Anderson) my entire life until 2 years ago. It is heavily overrun by homeless, and has a huge drug problem for a city of its size. There are not great jobs (if you work in healthcare you are in good shape!) and the cost of housing is insane for where you are living. It is great if you love the outdoors, but 4-5 months out of the year it is HOT. I would go to work at 4am and sometimes it could still be 80F. Depending how you lean politically would have a heavy influence on moving there as well. I would suggest you do your research. It will always be home and where I grew up, but I would never move back in its current state.

Redding has a lot of great restaurants. Many of the locally owned places are downtown. Market Street Blade and Barrel, Final Draft Brewing, Kobe Steakhouse, Vintage Public House, Maxwells, 1724 Downtown Grill, Carnegies, Trendys, Post Office Grill, Deja Vu, Karlines, Fusion Lounge, Jack's Steakhouse, Cinders Wood Fired Pizza, and dozens of others. Outside of downtown, we have a great place called View 202, Moonstone Bistro, Whiskeytown BBQ, Branch House Restaurant, Mosaic, From the Hearth, La Cabana, and many, many other little restaurants scatter around different neighborhoods in town. And then we have the Hilltop/Dana Drive restaurants scattered around the Mount Shasta Mall. They're mostly corporate places like Applebee's, Olive Garden, Logans Steakhouse, Outback, Red Lobster, etc.

What do I like about Redding? Well almost nothing. The population of homeless people here is far to high in relation to the population a housed people living here. Tweekers, sketchy low life's, angry drivers, poorly run government, and far to many Trump followers. Yes this is definitely a conservative town. The fact that the rent doubled or more at the end of this past year and that the cost of living is far higher than it should be for a town of this size. To many people moving here from large cities with big city attitudes etc etc. No I do not like Redding but the area's around Redding are great. Beautiful mountains and rivers and lakes make an outdoor recreation dream. So I guess the bottom line is, if you're willing to take the bad with the good, than its not bad .... I guess. We moved here over twenty years ago and are making plans to move. Where are we moving, well someplace with less people and better drivers and better attitudes. In the past twenty years or so we've watched the people and other things I just mentioned slide down hill and that's sad because Redding could be a great place to live, seriously, there's lots of room for improvement. Good video though.

Sad it is . But I'm afraid the madness is everywhere by the general anxiety that smart phones are causing in most peoples lives. No patience. No cooperation. No tolerance no acceptance. Fear of differences. Fear to be unnoticed. Fear to be less than. Fear to not MATTER. When we will realize that we are here to be part of. Not to be separate by thoughts and believes.
