I actually really love this idea. You have a bar visible at all times showing the progress of your travel, the tools are inexpensive, you can choose to stop at any time, and you can have a HUGE amount of choice in the precise distance travelled, especially if you use the offhand.

In reply to your side tangent: both your and avogaados hoe burners are just impressively fast at breaking hoes completely! If i wanted to encode flight data into a hoe, i'd have to use a script to hold down right click for like, exactly 30 gameticks. Which is fine, but it'd be cool if you could attach like a timer to the burner to do that for you. It might be as easy as having a hopper minecart pull from a chest and stopping your hoe burner when the chest is empty, since hopper minecarts pull exactly once per gt. I wouldn't know tho, i'm not as good at this as you. Awesome video by the way, it's very cool seeing your pipe dream get more and more practical!

It might be possible to enable the usage of hoes by including a sticky piston that pushes a waterlogged mangrove roots block within the hydration radius of the farmland, as that would eliminate the possibility of it reverting to dirt

As a method of travel, probably not super useful. As a method of counting out long distances, going to a new area to build a receiver for an enderpearl cannon, or building the world's longest trencher, I can see some potential.

In actuality, its due to how i type on my keyboard. I type very quickly on my phone, meaning i miss the keys a whole ton, and this leads to some really common errors, such as replacing e's with w's. It tends to happen a ton more with words that start with e for some reason.Congrats on being incredibly observant.

Very nice! The next iteration would be a x-z flying machine that goes in one direction and then perpendicular to that when the first shovel breaks

That would be by far the most practical design, as you wouldn't need to disassemble it to move in the other direction. You could simply park this in your skybase and AFK navigate to any coordinates in the game, with a pivot where you need to pull out the second shovel, of course.

you call it a GPS at the start of the video, but technically this system is closer to dead reckoning - you take your heading and calculate a distance you've moved to estimate your position. admittedly it has a large difference in that this can perfectly measure distance directly instead of estimating speed and multiplying by time, (as well as there only being the option to take the four cardinal directions exactly) but the principle is the same.
