A guide on how to select your best assistant generals out of a number of possible options.

I've been using Martinus for quite a long time and tested him with a lot of assistants (Theodora, Hannibal, Roland, Baibars, Huo, Aethelflaed, Nathaneal, Custer, Caesar, Sanada) Because he's a wuss for not being able to take an attack book 🤭Name it, I tried pimping him to almost everyone I have 😂 And the strongest combo I got so far is Martinus with Custer. When it comes to attacking bosses, march size over HP all day everyday.

I have run the marches on attack, hp, and defense. March size always comes on top for how hard you hit against atk pwr. Just something to consider. I run Martin/Custer but take a closer look at Roland with the right configuration of march size… he brings 16% plus books and any beast or dragon

The argument regarding march size is not whether march size is effective or not. It’s that when there is a significant difference in buffs, why choose march size on the general over buffs when we have other ways to increase march size (e.g. rally spot duty general, march size buffs, things like that)

I really appreciate your opinion on the game and in fact i'd like to hear something from you about my monster hunting gens combination.. i decided to use theodora as i value the most double drop rate... Secondly i just want the max atk possible, without caring for hp.. as a result i ended up having hannibal, roland, custer and laudon.. i do not spend anything in the game so i unfortunately can't use poligenus, napoleon prime, mordred or zhao yun... Hi all. Great Video. Good to know our talks are helping out others to have a better Evony IQ. I did pick Custer because. 1. I got him from the special relic chamber event. 2. He has more power over Hannibal. 3. The 10% march size should make up for the power difference to Zhao Yun. For monster hunting i think Custer, Zhao or Hannibal are great assistants because of there power and HP. If you are pvp oriented go for Mordred. Mordred plugs up the low defense of Martinus. *I am a monster hunting city. b16 to world boss i am developing Martinus + Custer. *I have Aethelfled + Greene+Bird of Hurricane for b15 and lower level monsters. *I do most of my hunting on the enemy server so i also have 9 Sanada on my sub cities with monster debuff gear(2 general + 4 dragon) Note: a good balanced mounted assistant is Prince Eugene. Attack power is 90%, not the best. But he offers 45% in HP(pve) and defense(pvp) with 6% march size.

@@Divyansh.Kushwaha My opinion. For PvE(monster hunting): Attack, HP, March size. You can leave out defense skill books. For PvP(Player Attack/In-city): Attack, HP, defense. Need everything when you are either starting an attack or defending against one.

Caesar and Aethelflaed are the two #1 generals when it comes to monster rallies, in my opinion. Martimus is also good, but he can also be used as a PvP general, while these two are especially used for monster attack rallies. By the way, nobody plays Evony in my city 😣

Hi Aka, I have been using Octavius with my Martinus as of late. Mainly because there is no way I would ascend him, but paired with Martinus; they are doing well for me. I've been getting great points against alliance boss, good results with WB, and finally I haven't been getting wounded from behemoth or Phoenix either (which this has helped greatly). Oh I am a keep 34, can't afford to go keep 35 right now; though i am almost maxed out at keep 34.

Hey Aka, thanks for your videos! New player here and a bit confused... I want to make my Mounted Monster Combo with Maria Theresa and Theodora - from what i saw their main skill is compatible - do i need to worry about Specialty Compatibility or thats not a thing? Also as a new player i am lacking skill books to check what they can even learn... on top of that i am a bit confused on how to check skill book compatibility between the 2 Generals. Example: Both of them have a skill that gives Mounted Troop attack against monsters (even tho their skills are compatible) - if i teach one of them with a skill book "Mounted Troop attack against monster" is that gonna be incompatible with the other generals main skill? Do you have to just learn the skill and then check? Lastly my main idea for skills on both was March+Monster March, Mounted Atck+Monster Mounted Atck and Luck+ something... maybe Monster Mounted HP? Hi 🙂👋 I think for the most part, these are pretty good combinations that you have here 👍 The few comments I have: • For the Elektra/Charles combo, if they are compatible, I think that would be a strong combo 💪. Don’t think you should worry about getting Conrad in that case. • Wall combo is interesting 😄😄. There might be better options that will come your way later, so keep an open mind 😉 • Bosses look fine 👌. For reference, I use Hannibal/Sun Ce for Mounted PvP and Zhao/Roland for bosses • I don’t think you need to worry too much about reinforcing. All in all, good stuff you’ve got going on there 😁👍

OK I am not trying to argue but I have martinus and I have Roland as his assistant it's the combination that gives me the most fighting power I tried hanibal and it wasn't as strong as the combination with Roland

That may be the case, I haven’t checked their numbers to see which would be the better assistant. But as you may have noticed, Roland wasn’t one of the options in the example in the video 😉. That was purely a selection between just those 3 options.

I'm going to give you two tips that you need to take into consideration: 1) if you are going to use the duo to attack only monsters, in general, in Capacities, give him development books... these are the books that increase the general's capacity by 45%. 2) if you are going to use the duo to attack monsters and for PvP (playing in galgamela and constantinople events), I recommend that, in general, in Capabilities, you give him books from the Military tab... these are those books that increase by 25 % the general's ability. Martinus for monsters (development tab): Increased attack of mounted troops by 45%... Increased HP of mounted troops by 45%... Gives you a 18% chance of dropping double items. Hannibal for Monsters (Military Tab): Increases the speed of mounted troops by 20%... Increases the energy of mounted troops by 25%... Increases march size by 12% However, if you are going to use Anibal for PvP, only use options from the military tab... Hope this helps !! ;)

Have to disagree with you on the case study. Against monsters, march size is definitely more important than HP, especially if you're trying to zero them, which makes a pretty big difference against bosses big enough to require t13s or higher. Against players, march size is less effective because you get debuffed and it might not even matter because the war hall / embassy might fill up from other players; neither of those are normally part of the equation against bosses. March size is an attack analogue and one that gives you more return per percentage point, especially as troop tier and atk buffs from other sources (research, gear, general level, specialties) increase. That's mathematically testable and provable using the raw numbers of total buff percentages and the base stats of different troop tiers. Therefore, Custer has a massive edge over Hannibal. There's a reason why they won't let us stack his skill with Roland's ascension or Barbarossa's base skill.

Yeah, I do think march size is helpful against monsters, no question. But when it comes to a choice between march size vs buffs, I’m of the opinion that since we have access to march size buffs, which we could use freely at anytime (provided you have them 😅) and march size skill books, should getting march size be prioritized over getting buffs? Of course I know that just means more march size 😂 but as a choice, it’s not so clear to me. And like I said, if you go for buffs, worst case scenario: just pop on a Medium march buff 😄 Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Not pushing that it’s right though. 😇

I’m a level 28 and have problem on who to assign as wall general and assistant. I have Barbarossa 25, elektra 25 and Boudica 26 I have others but these are my highest ones

Boudica, so that you can become a T-1 Cav trap. She's the only true wall general you listed, but she's also the best T-1 Cav trap/meat shield general. To become a proper T-1 trap build 150M T-1 Cavs. Thats the minimum to call yourself a T-1 keep and see results against larger solos. You will eventually strive to build 500M, but each 100M along the way makes a big difference. Build 6 pieces of Ach gear for wall. Definitely the ring with siege range and I believe the other pieces should all be the ones with a single debuff (not the ones with two debuffs). On chest and boots you will want all 4 FLAT Mounted defense buffs on each piece. On helmet and pants you want all four buffs on each piece to be flat mounted HP buffs. You can confidently start fighting with the minimum 150M T-1 Cavs and 2 flat HP or Def cav/mounted buffs on each of the afore mentioned pieces. Also, full refine wall dragon with HP and Def flat refines. HP first, defense second, all HP if you can manage it. Attack buffs on remaining two pieces can be whatever you want, doesn't need to be mounted. Maybe a mix of archer, siege, ground. Tune it to your strengths in troopbtype/numbers. Pick up as many copies of Boudica in the Tavern as you can. When you get to Military Academy, do all of the "when defending" research in the Mounted column, starting with HP, then defense, and lastly attack.

1. Wrong Answer, lol ! 1 of the Assistants should be a 2x Drop Gen like theodora or Aethelflaed of whom can both bring over 25% 2x Drop (to beat out Baibars) & have pretty decent attack also. but i see your point as an example & agree if you were talking PVP instead. 2x Drop is Too important to overlook & saves stamina in the long run towards any Goal. 2. It is my understanding that HP is what keeps you alive & Defense is basically a built in debuff for the opponants attack. monsters dont kill your troops only wouond, so wouldnt that logic transfer to wanting defense over HP when fighting monsters? I know the "Age Old Rule" dont attack if you are going to get wounded, Buuuttt sometimes you do get wounded when checking your monster buffs, or during power increase day to get the Monarch Comp Gems. to further prove the point Aethelflaeds' main Specialty brings 55% Att & Def for a reason as She is a monster Specialist. For boss hunt you want Attack, Attack, and more of Attack. March size boosts your dmg too, so its always good to have it. Defense and HP just bonus on top. If you have them its ok, but attack is more important - dead boss will not give you any wounded, this is the basic rule. The faster you kill boss - the less wounded you get ( or no wounded at all ). Luck is the other one, the more the better. You also would want to use Nathaniel as assistant for solo hunting and even for some rallies. So TLDR - Damage ( Attack + March Size + maybe monster debuffs if you can fit them) + Luck + Stamina reduction. Those are the things you want for boss hunting. Everything else is IRRELEVANT, but I say monster march speed is also a must have on your assistant books.

Gear doesn’t work on assistants I know some people still decide to put gear because of that power change. As far as I Know, it doesn’t improve buffs. I personally believe it is just a display glitch that Evony haven’t fixed yet, but some people believe it improves their performance 🤷‍♂️ Either way, if you can afford it, cool. But it is expensive to put gear on assistants

You can Trajan pick up in the tavern, so shouldn’t be a problem getting him. 🤔 You can also try Yue Fei. He should work as an assistant as well 👌

Who is the best assistant for Hannibal while doing PvP?

Hannibal is a difficult general to get assistants for. For free options, you are looking at Takeda Shingen. You can get him in the tavern. For premium options, you are looking at generals like Prince Eugene, Sun Ce, Maximilian. I use Sun Ce as my assistant to Hannibal 😉👍

I just use Sanadas as assistant and I don't worry about anything

Sanada can be very good as an assistant. He does have his limitations, but I still think he’s a great general 😊

You get them from different sources. For example, rewards from Helen. You can also get some tokens when you buy packages. They are not easy to get, but can be very helpful to obtain premium generals. 👍

Did you say ascensions don’t work with assistants?? I get attacked by K40s in battlefield and most have ascended assistants. Please reconfirm so we don’t waste scarce blood of ares!

Ascension doesn’t work on assistants. What usually happens in those cases is that the player has a general that they have been using and already ascended a bit. Then they get a better general and switch the old general to become an assistant, especially when they have already done some of the specialties on the old general. No point in wasting it 😉

@@RedEvony thank you. I had been ascending both Dewey and Boudicca on my wall. What a waste 🥲 I am a t1 cav trap I think strengthening Dewey’s siege and archer might be stronger, as % cav on Boudicca is not as useful when already have fully flat cav gear refines
