I think "Silent Rage" is a hidden Chuck Norris gem. The initial premise of the movie is a bit far-fetched, but once you get beyond that I think you get a very good, very unique Chuck Norris movie. I don't recall him being in anything quite like this before or after.

Richard Lynch played the main bad guy in Invasion USA. He was seen in various movies like Puppetmaster 4: Toulon's Revenge, The Barbarians opposite the Paul twins with an appearance by Michael Berryman and The Sword And The Sorcerer. He had burn scars on his face due to lighting himself on fire during a drug induced freakout which lent him the ability to play sinister cinematic villains.

RICHARD LYNCH is not the cheap version of anything. The man was a great actor and always turned in a awesome villain performance. I met him about 2 weeks before he died and he was super nice. I just asked for his autograph and told him how much I enjoyed him in the 1979 tv movie Vampire then I turned to leave...he grabbed my arm and wanted to know more about ME. Its rare you get that from a celebrity. Angus Scrimm did that to me too. RIP Richard And Angus

Regarding 11:31 - 'Max Maxwell, a 32-year-old stunt man from Memphis, Tenn., filed suit in Superior Court against Cannon Films, Golam Globus Productions, director Joe Zito and the stunt coordinator and special-effects coordinator for the film, 'Invasion USA. Maxwell was playing a security guard during filming on June 7 in Atlanta. He said the script called for the terrorists to use explosives to collapse a steel door leading into a garage for armoured cars. Maxwell was told the door was merely to collapse and he was supposed to take a couple of bullets,' Kroll (his attorney) said. 'Instead the explosion was so awesome it blew the steel door to smithereens and sent debris flying all over the place.' Maxwell was hit by debris and suffered a fractured right forearm, a lacerated forehead, bruised knee and numerous cuts. He will be unable to work for at least three months, Kroll said.'

You can't go wrong with an '80s movie where Richard Lynch plays the villain. I liked how Norris got arrested and put in custody and the next time we see him he has the rocket launcher and is stalking the hallways. How did he escape? I wonder if they shot a scene where that happened and it got cut, or they didn't care. I'm betting on the latter.
@josephwintrich7294
@josephwintrich7294 3 жыл бұрын
I'm SURE they didn't care, they just said "FUCK IT! No one would care." They were right, no one did. They were too busy sitting in movie theater AC or heat while sipping on a soda to ever care. Even back then people watched these movies to laugh at them while the preteens who thought they snuck in felt they were the COOLEST MOVIES EVER! 🤪 As long as they're shooting guns and shit is blowing up the intended target audience is enthralled.

Why would he need to escape? The whole trap and media manipulation, to bring all the terrorists to one place, was Hunter's (Norris') idea. Pretend that the Governors of all 50 States are in that building in Atlanta, and pretend that Hunter has been arrested and will be brought to that same building to be questioned. It was all a setup. FBI agent: "Thanks for taking out Nicco." Hunter: "It didn't help these kids, did it?" (Gesturing to a blown-up carnival ride.) Agent: "You can't stop it all." Hunter: "Rostov can." Agent: "If you can find him." Hunter: "I'll find him. Here's what I want you to do." (Hands the agent a paper.) Agent (reading paper): "Hunter, this is suicide. They'll never go for it. Think of the risks." Hunter: "Think of the stakes." They DO go for it. Right after that, Hunter is fake-arrested without incident, and the TV stations play it up.

Another good review! I actually, as i hinted in my comment on The Octagon review, always preferred Chuck Norris earlier movies when the focus is on martial arts. There was, in my opinion, a shift as Chock Norris started to work with Cannon, more emphasis on gunplay and less martial arts. But I do like Code of Silence directed by Andrew Davis (who also directed Nico and Under Siege..)

There is also the fact that he was aging so probably couldn't do some of the more physical acts he did in the past, that they were probably trying to market him more of an "action star" like a Arnold or Stallone more than just a "Martial Arts Guy." If you look at the success of action star movies of the 80's, you can't blame them.

I think it’s fair to say Chuck never made a truly decent movie, but Invasion USA is right up there with his best. Absolute carnage from start to finish! Disappointed he didn’t use his chainsaw on anyone. Delta Force probably has the movie beat though. RIP Billy Drago and Richard Lynch, the ultimate 80’s bad guy combo. And, gosh, at the risk of sounding more pedantic, Miami in 1981 saw an increase in murder of 500%. I lived in Miami for three terrible years. Hate the place. BUT stuff like this movie and Miami Vice were based on two otherwise unrelated events. The first was the arrival of the cocaine cowboys - the Columbian cartel assholes that shot up a shopping mall and totally bought the Miami police department. Seriously, it was bad. At one point, 1/3rd of the Miami PD was suspended or under investigation for corruption. The city was put into federal recievership. It was nuts. F'n' nuts. The other thing was that Jimmy Carter said that the US would take all Cuban refugees. If you were Cuban and could get to US soil, we'd give you a green card. That created a crisis as thousands of Cubans (the "boat people") arrived. BUT... Fidel Castro also decided to *empty the prisons and insane aslyums* and send 'em all to the US! True story! An insane but also true story. In 1985, I'm guessing this was all still very raw.

One of my favs from Chuck. This was a good period for him with Missing in Action 2, Invasion U.S.A. and my personal favotite of his Code of Silence coming out right next to each other. I think I prefer them than his martial arts films, which while decent (I like The Octagon like every sane person, haven't seen your take on it though yet) weren't imo on par with Hong Kong kung fu (and wuxia) films (especially in terms of choreography) and it's no wonder that his best fight - at least for me - was in "The Way of the Dragon" (which was the biggest hit with Bruce Lee in Hong Kong btw; Enter the Dragon earned approx. 2 milion HK dollars less and was #3 in the annual box office, while The Way was #1 year earlier with Fist of Fury #2, also grossing more than Enter).

11:32 I found a news article on the explosion and the guy was left with a fractured right forearm LOL ''Maxwell was playing a security guard during filming on June 7 in Atlanta. He said the script called for the terrorists to use explosives to collapse a steel door leading into a garage for armored cars. Maxwell 'was told the door was merely to collapse and he was supposed to take a couple of bullets,' Kroll said. 'Instead the explosion was so awesome it blew the steel door to smithereens and sent debris flying all over the place.''

I remember watching Delta Force when I was younger but my fav Norris film is Firewalker. It is an unintentional comedy adventure movie with Lou Gosset Jr. with great one liners. Chessy, silly, and high kicking Norris. Also, a dated movie that is pretty hilarious from watching it from today's lens is the Iron Eagle series...it gets bananas. Also, a good sci-fi hilarious one is My Science Project with Dennis Hopper, Fisher Stevens, and John Stockwell...it is one in a million movie.

I know Chuck Norris is batshit crazy but... man, Redeye, you are provoking all my best stories! Anyway, when I got a brown belt in jujitsu, it was at a tournament in SoCal and Chuck Norris was there. So, I've met the guy. He came up to me, shook my hand, bowed, congratulated me, and that was it. It was, y'know, fifteen seconds. It was still pretty cool. While I know Chuck is crazy, his love of martial arts is intense and real. And he does the work, so, respect to a life-long, committed, serious martial artist despite his batshit insanity. I think that Chuck Norris is the guy that Steven Seagal wants to be. And he isn't. Not even close. And it burns up Seagal. :D

Yes your right there is an arming distance in order for a rocket to activate. And I could be wrong but most of the launchers they used are not reusable once fired.

You're right about arming distance and the reasoning behind it but here's a few other fun rocket fackts: With rockets like the M72A2 LAW, the rocket motor is almost completely burnt out by the time it leaves the tube so the person firing it gets to have eyebrows after shooting his load. But the back end of the tube is open so all that backblast goes behind them. So not only is there an arming distance there is also a minimum safe distance you should be from walls when firing a LAW, cuz if you're too close you run the risk of having your ass burned or filled with bits of debris. This is also mostly the case with Russian RPGs, but there is a second rocket motor that ignites after it reaches its safe arming distance. WW2 Bazookas also have that backblast too. So firing just about ANY AT rocket in a hallway, much less in a building, is a super dumb thing to do unless it's absolutely necessary, such as in the case of murdering a badguy in a Chuck Norris movie. Also, weapons like the M72A2 were menat to be light and disposable so reloading one in the field is near impossible to do in seconds. An enterprising guerrilla might be able to reload it once in a shop with some sort of IED, but not on the back of a fanboat in the Everglades.

This was bananas! Thanks for the review. 4:00 - I don't know a lot about boats...is that guy rowing backwards? I thought you were supposed to face the stern and look over your shoulder. "Breathing like an inbred pug"...! Richard Lynch is over-the-top awesome in this. The Joker talks about mayhem...this guy just does it. Also he has bitchin' hair. I love the armadillo - Steven Seagal doesn't have an armadillo!

I guess I was too numb to the enjoyable absurdity by the end to notice that the terrorists ran to and then a good way into the building just blasting without a soul in site. When I advised the Iraqi Army in 2007, they would do the same thing. We called their technique "Death Blossom."

Yep. Arming distance is totes a thing, and it's tens of meters not across the room. Though getting hit by just the mass of the rocket at close range wouldn't do you any favors. Every once in a while in warzones people survive with a undetonated 40mm grenade or RPG projectile literally embedded in their flesh. A little more velocity and it might well just blow through like a massive bullet.
