They stopped hiring freelance writers and listening to the community, and started doing everything in house And having quest writers write main stories. Turns out when you don't have any dedicated writers on staff and try to do everything in house, the writing quality suffers

This speech was written by an in-house employee, Michael Kirkbride. He left Bethesda before Morrowind came out but he still contributes some writing for each game.
