I was lucky enough to be able to make the trip to LA to see her live for the 1st time. I was expecting to be blown away by the music, and I was not disappointed. But so many other great surprises. The duet with Scott Hoying, Jimmy Z playing sax and harmonica, Toby Gad joining on piano.... I think the thing I loved most was Angelina's interaction with the audience that you can see in this video. She is so thankful, so humble, so adorable. She teared up a few times. I didn't think it was possible to love her more. This young lady is amazing. And she wasn't kidding when she said "real bluesy". 🥰

Fantastic reaction Red. It's amazing how Angelina at 18 now is sounding even more mature and the real blues and Jazz just seems to ooze out of her veins. She's so natural and organic on stage and just loves to sing to her audience and to have Jimmy Z there. just blowing the crap out of that harmonica and the guitarist too was totally amazing. This is Angeline at her very best with a captive live audience. wonderful band , top musicians and her vocals which just dominate and mesmerize you into her heart and soul. I'm not ungrateful, I just wish Angelina would get the production she deserves. I've always contained Angelina on a phone recording was a heck of a lot better than what's coming from the industry that is.

Thank you for another great reaction video. Etta James co- wrote this song with her friend Ellington "Fugi" Jordan. At the time Etta was going through a dark chapter of her life. She was addicted to drugs and was stealing from family and friends to support her habit. She was also in trouble with the IRS for not paying her taxes. During a visit to her friend Ellington who was in Chino prison for robbery, he told her about this song that he started writing but couldn't finish. Etta later on completed the song. When the song was published, Etta gave her writing credit to her then boyfriend Billy Foster to avoid the IRS garnishing the royalties. Etta sang it from the deepest spot in her heart. She stated in her autobiography "I was Blind. I was Blind in my Love life, and I was Blind in my personal ways. Like the song says, I just don't want to be free". Muscle Shoals. So many are unaware of this legendary place that was the birthplace of Southern Rock, soulful blues and Jazz and much more. It helped launch the careers of many great Arists including Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Allman Brothers, Percy Sledge, Steve Winwood, Wilson Pickett and many others. A favorite place for some of the best to record their music including the Rolling Stones. The Swampers who were the resident musicians had their imprint in many legendary albums and songs. Any who want to know about this on the River Banks of Alabama, I believe.
