A lot of people don't realize David is a world class Blues guitarist also.

Great to see you do a deeper dive into this amazing Pulse concert, where every song's a stunner! Now try the beautiful concert opener, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, then bookend it with the eye-popping concert finale: Run Like Hell. You won't be disappointed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This is one of my favorite performances from Pulse. "Mesmerizing' and 'hypnotic' are the perfect descriptors for this song! David Gilmour's guitar solo is other worldly, especially with the talk box at the end (somehow, he makes the talk box sound soulful!). I also love the overall sound of this song, the clever use of the Stephen Hawking commentary, and the call-and-response vocals between David and the background singers.

The sample of Prof. Hawking came from a recording of him that was used in an advert for British Telecom or BT, here in the UK. It's on KZbin if you've never seen it - massively powerful and moving to hear that message in a voice from someone who was robbed of the gift of talking for himself by his illness. The full quote is; “For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn't have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking.” That's never been more true than today with the upheaval in the world.

Not the song I would have chosen for Christmas Eve - but I was totally here for it! This is actually one of my favorite trscks from the Pulse Concert. As for the solo: Gilmour is not a great talker himself - but he talks through his guitar. There he doesn’t have the problem that „the words won‘t come out right“! The lyrics were actually written by his wife. You can litterally hear her saying „Why won‘t you talk to me?!“ 😂

PINK FLOYD WILL TAKE YOU AWAY, FROM THE ALBUMS UMMAGUMMA… THROUGH TO ENDLESS RIVER. THEN DAVID HAS FIVE SOLO ALBUMS. HE IS STILL CURRENTLY TOURING WITH HIS DAUGHTER ON HIS LATEST ALBUM. 15 ALBUMS FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE…. ENJOY. ROCK ON 👊🖖

This was the last Pink Floyd album in 1994 ('The Division Bell') w/ lyrics written by David Gilmour's wife Polly Samson... David Gilmour (vocals/ guitar) was never keen on writing lyrics; that fell on Floyd's Roger Waters (bass/ vocals) but the last few years w/ Waters were marred by disagreements and animosity... Roger Waters wrote very morose music for Pink Floyd, while Gilmour wanted levity and the 2 clashed over musical direction frequently. After Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1984, Gilmour resurrected Pink Floyd in 1986 w/ Richard Wright (keyboards/ vocals) and Nick Mason (drums) and the band could pursue Gilmour's more vibrant vision for Pink Floyd without Waters' morose lyrics about war, death, school and madness... Polly Samson recalled being frustrated w/ her husband and the first lyric she wrote was Pink Floyd's song "What do you want from me"... The album 'The Division Bell' was about communication and distance, for the most part.

David Gilmour can make the guitar into a soaring angelic journey and can also do dark, dirty depths of emotion as well. He just finished a 21 show tour of old Floyd tunes and his new album. Here is a composite from the shows of one of the tracks from his new album, with proper video and sound (there's lots of cell phone recordings from the concerts but they all suck regards fidelity) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYCunZmNaKZ1qqM ( David Gilmour - The Piper's Call Live Around The World ) His solo at the end of Piper's Call is rather grungy but classic Gilmour. And the woman singing beside him is his daughter Romany who does lead on other songs.

Note about Dave: Dave u some what of an introvert as his wife would say. Wife ( Polly) has said that Dave shows very little of emotion but he does with his guitar. Which to me makes him in a very small group of musician who becomes one with his instrument. Polly said he can answer a ? better with the guitar even though he speaks 4 languages.

Yes please, Animals next. This is a deep album that needs to be listened to in it's entirety. It has to do with George Orwell's book about how levels of society are like animals and describes their actions on a farm, which is modeled after the 1917 Russian Revolution

If you want to see David playing dirtier, grimier, check out his Live at Pompeii in 2016. I love how his solos aren’t as clean, they’re dirtier and just right on. And you totally got the symbolism of Steven Hawking, a guy who literally can not talk. Communication can happen in many ways, body language, music, etc.

Now that you've mentioned you like the grinding feedback style of guitar, the next PF song you should review is Sorrow at the same concert. IT IS OVER THE TOP with that guitar style - David Gilmour shows how it's done... but be SURE to let it play to the very end Red! Pink Floyd stays meaningful, pertinent and entertaining for life, because as you grow, their messages take on continuously new meanings.

The only thing you have to do is....KEEP TALKING😂At less, try, communication, is the most important thing....I never understood why it's so complicate for you, in usa or england, or other countries 😂in Japan a couple, even don't care to hold their hands in the street😂😢ENOUGH....Like in the song, we were like animals, and then, something happened, WE LEARNED TO TALK....AND, THOUSANDS OF YEARS AFTER, YOU'RE TO STUPID TO TALK😂😂😂😂😂HO ...IT'S COMPLICATE TO TELL MY FEELINGS😡 RIDICULOUS....I LIKE THAT SONG, BUT I HATE THE IDIOTS, STUPID PEOPLES ON THAT STUPID PLANET....INM FRENCH, AND I'M NOT SCARED TO TALK😡👊🖕
