Fantastic. Your reaction, your assessment is spot on Mark's guitar seems laid back but is really very precise, so much more here for you to explore.

Telegraph road and brothers in arms from this concert is mind blowing

I can't agree I'm afraid. This whole concert is ruined by that slide guitar. I'd agree with you about those two songs from just about any other performance. This one... I don't know what Mr Knopfler was thinking.

Brothers In Arms and Calling Elvis from this very concert really confirmed to me that he is the finest guitarist ever in my opinion. Love your channel and reactions especially to my favorite artist ever. Cheers, Merry Christmas, all the best from Australia. 👍🎸🎸🎸🎅

Worth checking the album version too, along with the other album tracks. Some real meaningful lyrics to be had.

Red, as a Newcastle United Football Club fan you must listen to 'Local Hero' or Mark Knopfler's (the lead singer) 'Why Aye Man' - wonderful tunes that mean so much to people from my neck of the woods (Geordie Land in the North East of England).

Right up there with David Gilmour and Alex Lifeson on guitar work. Style very different but equally unique tactical skills. And Marks songwriting and delivery are epic. Love this band! Thank you for doing this.

You're right, his guitar and voice meld together and his/their songs are usually story telling ones and they transition from introspective to full on instrumental bliss. Check out Industrial Disease for something different again. It has amusing lyrics that you'll have fun with and is more of a standard 4/5 min song.

If you enjoy Knoffler's guitar work, check out Slow Train by Bob Dylan. Mark's guitarwork is unmistakeable

not sure if I got the lyrics right TBH 😕but is this about a guy searching for his ex who has had a one night stand....etc!? If so, I wish him good luck 😆
@jjc54074 күн бұрын
I'm curious, what makes you think that's what the song is about?
@sleepdeprieved3 күн бұрын
@@jjc5407 Well, let me see........... the storyteller's quest to locate the person he is romantically attracted to, the lady-killer, the third character, is introduced as a charming outlaw with traits that represent temptation and danger. the narrator's conflicting emotions toward the person he is looking for, as well as the individual's resistance to be located, led me to that conclusion. However, this is my take of it (a fun one). I could be totally wrong though!

@@sleepdeprieved I always have the impression it's a detective looking for a missing girl, walking the streets of New York late into the night showing her photo to various people, trying to find a trace of her but knowing there's little chance of success. "I don't know why it is I'm still on the case". I see nothing romantic in the lyrics or even anything to suggest he knows the person he's searching for.
