Mumbai Press Club on Friday 28th June 2019 held the 9th edition of the RedInk Awards at the Jamshed Bhaba Hall, NCPA, Mumbai.
This year the theme was #QuestionsArePowerful.
For the past 9 years, Mumbai Press Club has been celebrating excellence in Indian Journalism by felicitating the best stories by journalists in India across various categories in Print and Television. This year, in addition to the existing 11 categories, ‘The Arts’ category was introduced.
The RedInk Awards 2019 edition saw 32 journalists under 15 categories being felicitated by the guests of honour viz. world-renowned Bangladeshi Photojournalist Shahidul Alam and Magsaysay Award-winning social reformer Prakash Baba Amte.
Award recipients included Rachna Khaira of The Tribune who bagged the prestigious ‘Journalist of the Year’ Award for her far-reaching expose on the functioning of the Unique Identification Authority of Indian (UIDAI).
The coveted Lifetime Achievement Award this year went to - Dinu Ranadive, 94, who retired from the Maharashtra Times, and Photojournalist Sebastian D’Souza, who served as Photo Editor of Mumbai Mirror.
