That happened to *me* tonight. Finally saw Faust and it broke my shit. My buddy was utterly incredulous and I was absolutely beside myself, cry laughing into a pillow. The reveal of that dude in the Halloween costume.. where he grins like a maniac with the little turkey dangly bits on his face, that jiggled when he moved around. I've never seen anything more ridiculous that was intended to be intimidating in my life.

Never seen the movie, but read the comics. It's not a comedy. It's just a brutal subversion of the superhero genre. There's no magic or demons in it, but there's a lot of imagery of that because the main character is delusional. That's the subversion; it's not about a superhero, it's about a lunatic serial killer who puts on a costume and butchers petty street criminals that he THINKS are cultists and demons.

Having a show based on a gimmick of having no gimmicks is itself a gimmick and therefore a lie and a subversion of our expectations that there would be a gimmick, but then that there would be no gimmick, which is a gimmick and therefor a subversion of our families which as we know is satisfying. Also 10/10 would watch again even though I haven't watched it yet, is having no gimmicks replacing having a gimmick by having a gimmick of having no gimmick?

The blob boob monster lady, actually that would have been interesting if she actually looked like that all the time, and like craved more breast meat to add to her blob body, could have made for a interesting villain though they couldn’t have her squirting nipples out all the time, might need a robe specific for her, or something, but of course they aren’t that creative, and also Faust, could just kill her by busting her tits, and having her shrink away.

The truly amazing thing about Blood Street is that it's actually a direct sequel to Low Blow so somehow, in the four years between the events of Low Blow and Blood Street (because the latter takes place in 1990), Joe Wong went from a schlub with a crummy office and a rundown Oldsmobile to becoming San Fran's top P.I.

All three movies are connected. Richard Norton, who was in Blood Street, was also in Cyber Tracker which was directed by Richard Pepin who also directed Hologram Man. In Hologram Man, Joe Lara played Decoda and also played Tarzan in a TV movie. The same TV Movie starred Andrew Divoff, who played M in Foust. No Gimicks is a lie...

I'm glad in editing they added the bit about the Faust comic predating Spawn because I was about to become annoyed at them saying Faust was copying Spawn... Fun fact about that comic... the original series ran 15 issues and took about 25 years to come out! I was working at a comic shop when it started, and it became a running joke in the early years about how it was a "monthly" comic that barely made it once a year. I think it ultimately ended with a whimper just to be done... the early issues are pretty crazy, and all but hardcore pornography with crazy detail by the artist... when I heard this movie came out (still haven't seen it) I couldn't figure out how they could make it without it being a XXX film.

When I saw the episode title I thought it was going to be an adaptation of the German legend and/or play. Then I realized it was based on the comic and I thought NO FUCKING WAY! Fortunately the movie seems to have been very toned down from the comic. Like for example the snake coming out of the woman's "bellybutton," or that it much more implies that It's a superhero story with fun demons and cultists, rather than the much darker reality of the comic.

Wow. The concept of a sci fi universe where prisoners have their consciousness uploaded into a computer to be "reprogrammed" sounds like a mind blowing idea for a story.
